Oooo-ta-da or You-ta-da

OMG, I just find Hikki's last name so funny to pronounce. I know its Oooo-ta-da but You-ta-da sounds so much better to say, IMO. I thought it'll be interesting to know yall pronouce her name.

So which do like: Oooo-ta-da or You-ta-da? LOL!

*If a thread has already been like this then start in this one since the other might be long dead. lol*

Errrmmm Oooo-ta-da. xD

Tom Punks 5th June 2008 06:21 AM

Ootada. :yes I don't really see the point in purposely mispronouncing something if you know how it should be pronounced? >>

prussian blue 5th June 2008 06:28 AM

i think its quite common to pronounce U as ooo in the asia country

i said ooo-ta-da for the whole time

ImpactBreaker 5th June 2008 06:43 AM

Her name is japanese, not english. Seriously guys, I don't know why some people have to have such a restricted mind to even realize there are other languages in the world that aren't english. :bchuckThe "U" letter in japanese has practically only one kind of spelling (sometimes more or less intensity can be given to it), and that definitely does not include it being spelled like "you". I prefer it that way...spelling you-ta-da when we know she doesn't have "Yu" in her name is just plain weird.:mini:mini

Whoever says "Yuu-tada" is dead wrong. That's so dumb :laugh No offense, but time to educate yourself if you don't know it's "Utada".

summersnow 5th June 2008 08:00 AM

Oooo-ta-da.

but some of my friends always mispronounce it as You-ta-da.
Perhaps cuz of the 'U' which people always mistake it as 'you'.
