Ayu in my sister's Middle School Agenda!

So my sister sent me a text message today and said that she was looking through her agenda and they have little "WORDS OF WISDOM" for each week and one of them read the following:

"I understand it is my role to fulfill people's dreams..." - ayumi hamasaki

I thought that was very interesting! I used to go to that same school and every week I would write "Ayumi Hamasaki song of the week: XX". Lol. How random that they choose a quote by her.

I wish my school did that! That's so cool!

thats pretty random. But i am glad that ayu's lyrics had made it to the list of 'words of wisdom'..

Jwiz 10th October 2008 05:22 PM

That's quite cool actually, if only there's more quotes from ayu!

That is sooo cool.

When/where did she say that? It doesn't ring a bell as a lyric, although I could be wrong.

I'm hoping it's a butchered translation, too, because I don't think it's a very good quote. It comes off a little like a self-absorbed remark, rather than an inspiring message. Aren't daily planners supposed to say stuff like: "You're amazing! Go for it!", rather than: "You'll never be in my fabulous position, so don't bother trying; I'll live out your dreams for you." Kind of a downer if you ask me.

There's two other members of AHS who said the same thing in September when they started school.

One of them is in college, and her agency says the same thing. She even posted pictures :yes

I'd say the most probable source is the TIME article from way back when.

YES, it is. (article)

It ended up being "realize", instead of "fulfill".

That's cool. I have a little planner for high school with quotes, so I'll see if there is an Ayu one.

EDIT: Of course not. I always knew my school ****ed. :(

ren0210989 10th October 2008 10:30 PM

there was something like this posted here recently (back to few months).
it appears that a lot of people have had agendas with Ayu quotes^^
i wish i had one ;P

Chibi_Venus 10th October 2008 10:30 PM

Very awesome. ;)

I thought the same thing, evolutsean. I was like, "Wow, a little self-centered much?" Amazing how one word can change the whole meaning of a sentence. :)

Delirium-Zer0 10th October 2008 10:50 PM

Either way, it's not a very good quote for a school planner. ^^;;

pommy48 11th October 2008 12:07 AM

lucky! i wish i had it for my planner too!~

Bad Wolf 11th October 2008 12:51 AM

Wow, really? A US middle school had her in there? That's pretty cool :O

Ayu was mentioned in this book on Japanese feminism that I read last year--sadly I can't remember the title. :/

HELVENEUE 11th October 2008 01:02 AM

I was gonna post about this too actually, because my high school agenda also has this quote.

Melon Panda 11th October 2008 01:23 AM

That's surprising to hear.

Rainbow141 11th October 2008 03:48 PM

Wow! That is so amazing.

amorphose 11th October 2008 03:54 PM

Interesting indeed.
I'm gonna have to check my high school planner now and my brother's middle school one. XD
