I don't know ... are other artistes doing that well as well? I think yar, it's because many people don't support the original artistes by buying their singles and CDs.

I heard from my friend in Japan that over there, they are downloading mp3s rapidly and the youngsters are doing so to save money so that they can go for their crazy fashion. I'm not sure about that but it does seem sensible to me ... (It's not wrong for the intention of evaluation but you have to at least support the artistes by buying their stuff, right?)

Quite true ... I agree with Shiso on the japanese being a bit music-senseless. I mean yar, forgiveness was really nice and perhaps as Ayu has said ... not enough promotion. I guess it comes along with the economic recession and stuffs as well. But I think an image change or so might help.

(Ayu Ready? and RAINBOW HOUSE are closing down, popularity falling through ... I don't know, feeling rather sad for Ayu ...)

Because people don't buy something just because of a cover but the content counts as well.....Honestly forgiveness didn't impress me that much at all, it's a good song but just that. Comparing to & - 4 wonderful (NEW) songs to 1 good new song plus 2 regular remixes in forgiveness for the same price........I bet some people who didn't buy the forgiveness single but actually liked the song will await for her next album while with & since it was 4 NEW songs (and 1 that will probably not be on the new album) they still decided to buy it because of that. So I'm really not amazed if & sells much much more than forgiveness :P

I noticed, too, that "Forgiveness" lost about (over?) 50% in sale units in the second week. But I have to agree with ImpactBreaker that [&] had better songs on it.

seriously [&] did have better songs... to me forgiveness was like =/... blah... and people these days are like downloading everything online... its like they try it out first then if they like it they'll buy it...

i even didn't grab a copy of forgiveness since the music store wont give the poster... :( if it's a 10 tracks+ single, i'll buy it anyway.but 4 tracks+ single? the poster is one of the reason why i should buy the less tracks single

hope ayu can create more solid songs in the future.none of her new songs impressed me like how A Song for XX, End roll, or Fly high did....

Just some thoughts, it's either all singers are not doing well or the audience lost their interests and download mp3, some of them consider ayu's voice not sounds nice despite beautiful melody of her songs... >_<

It's impossible.
Traditionally (from the sales results), sales of her albums/singles drop week by week, despite the change in position on the charts.

IMO, 'forgiveness' is not a good song... maybe ayu writes another BALLAD to keep the chance of winning her 3rd consecutive Japan Record Award at the end of the year.
