Awards

I've read before that Ayu quit accepting awards at some point. Is that true?
sorry if this has been asked before.

mellody 22nd September 2009 02:27 AM

That's right, and if i'm not mistaken it's happened in 2004 after Moments single release...

Again, if i'm not mistaken, this is the reason :

She also announced she would not participate in the major music awards anymore. She also announced that she felt she was receiving the same awards every year, and by forfeiting her right to claim awards she was giving opportunity to new singers.

That's really nice i think... :D

yuki_unmei 22nd September 2009 02:37 AM

^ Thanks so much for answering!!

that is nice of her :)

Calico 22nd September 2009 03:53 AM

it is nice, but I always wonder what she might have won afterwards... :laugh

Blasterion 22nd September 2009 02:08 PM

maybe there was no room in her house for any more awards,
or else she would had to give up on her shoes ;)

and she'd rather have her shoes :D

ROFLMAO :roflmao

I can't stop laughing when i read this :roflmao
I'm laughing as if i'm crying~

Anyway, room for shoes maybe more important than a room for awards~

dreamland2.0 22nd September 2009 05:17 PM

I think it was a nice gesture!!
Didn't the public apparently get mad though? Saying it was snobby or something?

Rainbow141 23rd September 2009 02:26 AM

^ I can sort of understand how it would sound snobby. Though the fact may be that she was receiving lots of awards, and the same kinds each year, forfeiting her rights to be nominated anymore because she wants to give others a chance is like stating bluntly that she's been getting pretty much the majority of them. But meh, I think it's really cool of her. She's too awesome for any awards anyhow. <3

But wow.... what a cool thing to do. D:

ImpactBreaker 23rd September 2009 03:17 AM

LOL I actually don't think it was very nice..it sounds quite snobbish like: nah, I'd win it anyway, let the mediocre artists, who would never have any chance, have theirs. I've also always had the feeling she didn't want to face "not winning" the awards. I dunno...:laugh

Andrenekoi 23rd September 2009 05:44 AM

didn't she stop receiving awards to piss avex off?

That and it also coincided with a big Avex scandal.

waterballoon 23rd September 2009 06:04 AM

Well, HONESTLY, I think she would stop receiving such awards like since 2006 or something so it's a good thing to stop this lol

Calico 23rd September 2009 06:21 AM

inorite. quit while you're ahead :laugh I'm glad she quit receiving them...less fodder for the "OMG AYU ISN'T POPULAR" anymore trolls.

"omg u giyz ayu is so not popular now she didn't win the award for best middle finger nail in a PV"

waterballoon 23rd September 2009 06:30 AM

Well she could win the "Best Dramatic PV" award with GREEN or "Best Fish Lips" award.. but for the others... :shrug I don't know.

zyoeru 23rd September 2009 07:52 AM

I don't see how it could sounds snobby...she WAS pretty popular during the time of Moments... :P

Well part of Me won the best art direction PV of 2007. XD
It's not an award that an artist personally recieve so maybe they nominated it.

waterballoon 23rd September 2009 04:05 PM

^ Oh yeah part of Me was really beautiful... maybe GREEN could win best art direction; I mean strictly speaking by the nature of the PV and not the film direction or actors' facial expressions. :P

If I'm not wrong, ORANGE RANGE and a few other artists were kicking some major ass around that time. I think ayu was quite tactful (and I aslo forgot about the scandal thing SunshineSlayer mentioned), but it doesn't mean she was THAT nice. I think the worst way of winning something is when your rival gives up, and her giving up just makes things really cheap tbh. I personally think the humble way of doing it was applying and taking the chances to see whether people would award her or not that year, not just assume she'd win it anyway and should give the chance to somebody else LOL Not saying either that she had to be forced to apply for the awards, but I personally think her reply could have been a little more...hmm...humble LOL

waterballoon 24th September 2009 06:16 AM

IMO the best thing that could be done is for the awards organizations themselves to set up a special award for artists who win more than 5 consecutive years or something... give them one special award, and from then they wouldn't be able to participate anymore. ^^
