The Official Beatles Thread

Do they really need an introduction?

The Beatles @ Wikipedia
Official site

With 09.09.09 come and gone, I thought AHS should have its own Beatles thread. Admittedly, I'm a fairly new Beatles fan, myself. I never cared for their music before and even disliked them, but my sister's a huge fan, so I started checking them out over the last little while, especially after we visited New York. Now I can't stop listening to them. All those wasted years of not liking them :/

Favourite album(s)? Anyone get any remastered CDs/the boxsets? Rock Band? Favourite songs? Fan of any solo work?

thinkingoutloud89 28th September 2009 12:30 PM

I have the remastered one and some of the original ones in my itunes
I love the sound of teh remastered once
tough I have yet to listen to them completly

Ayumi27 29th September 2009 01:40 AM

I'm a huge fan ever since I was born... Fave songs are Across the Universe, And I Love Her, Back in the USSR, Day Tripper, Don't Let Me Down, Girl, Hey Jude, I Saw Her Standing There, Oh! Darling, Revolution, Strawberry Fields Forever, We Can Work It Out, Yellow Submarine, etc, etc

I love Paul (specially Wings era) & George's solo material as well

I went to New York last week and visited the Dakota, Strawberry Fields and bought some remasters (and 2010 calendar) at Borders... It was a pretty Beatles-morning overall

My friend had a Beatles Rock Band party the day after it came out. The intro to the game was really cool and so were the graphics.

THE BEST BAND EVER!!!
My dad used to put their music on when I was little, but I rediscovered them a few years ago and they quickly became my favorite band.

I just recently bought all the new 2009 remastered albums! Not too many differences from the past remasters but they still sound way better!

I still haven't got The Beatles Rockband (let alone a PS3 or X-Box) but I neeeeed it!

paper_doll 29th September 2009 05:21 AM

I knew AHS had to have some Beatles fans :)

I'm still waiting for my stereo boxset D: Going on three weeks now. HMV said it was more in demand than they planned (I don't know why this was a surprise to them, I mean, the Beatles are still huge) and are having a hard time getting more. I've heard that the mono set is actually quite a bit better than the stereo :S Has anyone heard the difference?

My sister made sure we visted those too when we went lol. The Dakota is such a nice building, but I feel bad for the security guard being in everyone's pictures lol. Was the "mayor" of Strawberry Fields there when you went?

We went to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame when we were there because Yoko had put on a John Lennon exhibit and there was lots of really cool stuff in there (albeit a small space). Behind glass was a bag of the clothes John was in when he got shot. Very... weird/sad to see.

Me too! My dad had me trained since birth. :P

I love practically all their songs, and I've seen Paul in concert. My dad, brother, and I plan on chipping into buying Beatles Rock Band together. :)

Yeah! I hate those guards so bad haha
And never heard of the "mayor", what's that??

Yeah, my mum was hardcore, The White Album and Revolver were like the Bible for her.
Luckily I attended 2 Paul concerts as well, and the Cirque LOVE, which is amazing!

paper_doll 30th September 2009 05:46 AM

Wow, you guys have seen Paul live? Awesome!

The "mayor" is just this guy (that looks like a bum lol) that kinda takes care of the place, I guess. Like, when we were there, he took off the flowers that everyone had left and rearranged them like a peace sign. Some people like him, but I don't really see why he needs to be there.

Ayumi27 30th September 2009 06:19 AM

Oh, I didn't see anybody back at the Fields... I took some flowers and arranged them myself as the peace sign, very emotional moment!

And yeah, I went to Paul's 2005 US Tour, at the Madison Square Garden, it was AMAZING, he performed as much as 40 songs live! And then got to see him perform at Quebec 400th Anniversary Celebration

paper_doll 30th September 2009 07:42 PM

I wish we would have left some flowers too :( We didn't know where a flower shop was, though.

Wow, that Madison Square concert sounds incredible!

StarSUCKER 14th October 2009 09:50 AM

OMG, so few Beatles fans? D:

ownsarai 14th October 2009 11:57 AM

Well, I have been a Beatles fan for many years. I grew up listening to them, and I listen to them a lot, on a daily basis. I love pretty much every song, and I also love Paul McCartney & Wings. :) And, did you know that Paul and his wife Linda used to live in my town? Good ol' Tucson, Arizona. ^^ I felt a lot more connected to The Beatles after I learned about that many...MANY years ago. (It seems like forever now).

My favorite songs are probably the most well known songs. Strawberry Fields, Revolution, All You Need Is Love, St. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band/A Little Help From My Friends, Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds + more. I've actually thought about changing my username to girlwithKALEIDOSCOPEeyes. xD But it's a little too long.

I would love to own Rock Band, but alas I don't have the right console for it, and I can't afford to get it right now either. Stupid economy failure. :cry

nemesisyume 15th October 2009 05:40 PM

oh yes I like their music!

I have their albums 1967–1970 and LOVE ~

paper_doll 18th October 2009 08:45 PM

Paul McCartney & Wings <3 I've been listening to the Band on the Run album like nonstop. So good.

Seiko Yua 24th October 2009 12:39 AM

my dad is a total beatles fan and has spent thousands of dollars on autographs and records and frames them. he also has their movies (hard day's night and help!), anthology, and of course remastered discs. seriously, that's where all my tuition money is going -_-;;

thus, i am a huge fan as well :) seriously, their music can change my mood in just one song. i've been to two paul concerts and he's rocked them both times. :D

i want beatles rockband SOOOOOOOOO bad, but i don't have the funds for it and the rockband set >.< being in college is p00p sometimes.

Ayumi27 21st March 2010 06:27 AM

Well, reviving this thread :laugh

paper doll is attending one of Ringo's gigs!
And you still have time to see Paul in concert, he performed three times in Canada during this decade (in Toronto & Halifax)

paper_doll 29th March 2010 05:02 AM

It should be good!

Do you know if Paul is announcing any more North American tour dates? We were hoping for a New York show :(

Ayumi27 29th March 2010 05:27 AM

Well, according to his website, additional dates will be added to this year tour, probably during july & august, and Paul never misses NYC, so chances are good ;)

paper_doll 10th April 2010 08:27 PM

We've got our fingers crossed lol. He just added a show in Mexico, so hopefully more'll come :)
