I'm curious...yesterday there was Withney Houston as a guest @ X Factor Italy.
They said she's the best seller and sold over 140.000.000 discs! :tired

i'd like just to now how many copies did ayu sell by far...

Just saw that Whitney Huston has actually sold 190 million ^^, But she is DEFINITELY not the best selling artist. Ayu has sold about 50 million ^^

Best selling Japanese artists as of 2005:

by general count until 2009, her sales already hit 50 million marks
50,453,743 but oricon hasnt updated yet the sales total after 2005. I believe she has already outsold SAS

Yeah, Ayu's on the list of Best Selling Music Artists of all time on wikipedia, where artists who have sold above 50 million copies are included. :D Ayu's finally one of them as of last year I think.

Well, sales are rather subjective... Ayu's overseas' were never announced; Madonna, Barbra Streisand, Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Alla Pugacheva, Nana Mouskouri and Wei Wei all claim to be the world best-selling female artists, Beatles said to have sold beet 1 and 2 billion copies, Thriller beet 40 and 110 millions... so we will never get the facts straight

im surprised to not see glay or l arc en ciel in the top five . those 2 bands are so old and sold so many cds . maybe in the top 10 ?

Ayu is Japan's best selling solo artist-- not just female artist. :D Isn't that cool? She beats all the solo men too.
