How strict of a tagger are you?

So if you can read the title, how strict are you with tagging? I'm a huge tag freak. It HAS to be correct or else I spaz XD Artist tags have to be correct for me. And song titles after that. So how strict are you?

JackieRos 20th January 2010 11:11 PM

I tag them how they are in the cd,
If something says ayumi hamasaki I tag it like that.
I could care less about the kanji if they are not on the cd.
Also like THE FAME MONSTER LADY GAGA
I write it like that too so I think I'm just moderate on the tags.

nemesisyume 20th January 2010 11:23 PM

I'm quite obsessed with tags when it comes to asian music

I hate it more than anything when someone is too lazy to copy paste
some kanji to the artists name.

I hate wrong tags.

wrong tagging should be illegal :roflmao

I am OCD.

If I dont have the right tag, I'm not okay.

Mostly because back in the day, I would always get Ayu songs that werent tagged properly, and when I finally found out, like, I was mad.

pommy48 21st January 2010 01:55 AM

Last FM totally made me OCD about it~ I hate when people tag songs in English, so I have to copy and paste the Japanese/Chinese back on

AyUta 21st January 2010 02:19 AM

I'm OCD on that too :laugh.

I HAVE to have them all correct, exactly the way they are. Although...I have to put the Kanji titles in Romaji sometimes because I can't read them. I hate that.

dreamland2.0 21st January 2010 02:20 AM

I'm pretty strict tagger. Usually for my Ipod, things that I have bought of the artist has their kanji name and things that are downloaded I use their romaji name. I also have to rip everything that I have bought and put in my i-pod even if it's already on there downloaded. I just like everything neat and organized!! :laugh

jiarongisme 21st January 2010 02:24 AM

I'm mostly OCD. XD All my covers must have the same dimensions and the capitalisations must be right. But I don't really care about the squiggles (~) and the ...'s. I'll just type it from the keyboard instead of using the Japanese ones.

If it's someone like Leah Dizon or OLIVIA, who only have one or two songs in kanji, then yes, I want them to be in kanji. However, if it's an artists whose songs are all in kanji, I prefer to tag them with romaji, otherwise I don't know what song it is... I mean, I can recognize the music, but if it appears in my recently listened tracks, I wonder, what song is that??

To me, that's a perfect excuse. I left the chinese symbols on alan's chinese album, and now I don't know which song is which when I want to listen anything from it :(

pommy48 21st January 2010 04:29 AM

^ Lol I have the same problem with Korean songs...

I would just play every song on an album till I get the one I want...XD

Picaflor 7/4 21st January 2010 04:40 AM

i never tag anything, hell, over half the music on my computer has no information on it whatsoever besides the song title.

ll moments ll 21st January 2010 04:45 AM

i tag according to the official tracklist. capalizations, kanji, you name it. i'm a strict tagger, if i say so myself. :laugh

for example,
ARTIST | SONG | ALBUM/SINGLE
LANDS | 二十歳の戦争 | Olympos

i use kanji/hiragana/katakana even if i don't know the meaning of it. LOL. BUT! it does help with learning them. you get a sense of all the common kanji like 愛/恋/君/僕 (all kanji i haven't properly learned in class yet!) take my example, 二十歳の戦争 = Hatachi no Sensou = 20 Year Old War :D

FIRSTKLAS 21st January 2010 05:46 AM

I'm strict in my own way, I guess.

I romanize everything, keep stylized formatting and special characters, and leave Engrish phrases alone (Are You Wake Up?), but I'll usually correct Engrish spellings (Butterfry -> Butterfly) and formatting quirks (Girl Friend -> Girlfriend).

I also never translate anything, especially in terms of Korean releases since, even though a lot of Korean songs have English in the title, it isn't always meant to be a translation.

Basically, my method is to keep everything as close to the original language as possible using English characters so I can read it.

Raiu-Ayu 21st January 2010 02:43 PM

I am so anal about tagging lol

I tag everything the same as it is on the CD :P If the CD says that the title is in kanji then I put in in kanji even if I have no idea what I mean lol I even leave all the dodgy punctuation and stuff

I really hate it when people mess up the stuff. Like if someone posts Boys and Girls instead of Boys & Girls or Hanabi instead of HANABI I feel like killing them lol

Mirai Noah 21st January 2010 06:02 PM

I have my own special rules about tagging. I'm OCD about alphabetical order, so I romanize all the artist names and track titles. And while I can read Japanese, I can only guess with Chinese and my Korean is pretty non-existent, so I like everything to be in Roman letters.

With the covers, I tend to always put the cover of the CD I own, or that I'm likely to buy. So if there is a CD and a CD+DVD version, I almost always put the CD only cover.

I also must have the release year, the track number, etc.

I would die *shudders*

For song names, I use the romaji since I alphabetize all my playlists, but I'll also put the kanji/cyrillic/hangul/etc. and translated title in parenthesis :D

I just romanize the artist name though because it's easier for me to find on the main iTunes screen.
