The announcement that her hearing was gone was a few days after COUNTDOWN LIVE had passed, so I believe that she found out some time around then.
I know this because I remember people being complete *******s about Ayu not singing well, and then the news that her left ear wasn't working anymore came out..

The remaining 10% of her hearing gradually disappeared after DOME TOUR 2001 made the 90% go away.. D:~
