English Project "poetry"
I have this english project where I have to pick a poem and I was gonna do it on Ayumi Hamasaki so I was wonder which one of her songs you think are most poetic. Since we are doing a poetry unit my teacher said that songs are poetry so i was just gonna use the translated verion of one of ayu's songs to put in my project and i also needed a bio of ayu which i have i just wanted to know which on of her songs were most poetic.

Well, what do you mean by poetic?? Any songs with lyrics are technically poems, right? If you mean her best lyrics, I would pick 'Duty'...

All of her poems are poetic. All have mechanics (imagery and such). Trust me, I have to do a Poetry project also and most of 'my favorite poems' are by Ayu
![]() So if I were you, choose the ones that are the most dearest and meaningful to you ![]()

Hmm, the problem with translating from another language into English is that the translator can choose to spin the lyrics in different ways. One way may sound more literal and cold but choose different words and it suddenly sounds different. I wish you luck on this assignment!

Hm? That's gotta be hard. I mean, all her songs are really good. I would prefer the song Key~Eternal Tie~. It really sounds poetic, as what I think. Well, I hope this is another choice of yours. Hope you do well in your project. =D

I chose 'everywhere, nowhere" for my poetry project in English. I think it all depends on what is most personal to you, and what you're comfortable with.
But, if you're looking for lyrical bests, I'd go with POWDER SNOW, A Song for XX, HANABI or SEASONS. |

My friend used one of Mika Nakashima's songs for her Calligraphy project once. I helped her out and printed out the translated lyrics, and she changed some parts to make it sound good lyrically.
It depends on the translator, because even though it's translated beautifully into English, the words sound much better in Japanese. I used MOMENTS, Present and Dearest for my project. I had to write 'What my thoughts are on this song and why I chose it,' and the mechanics of the song its self ![]()

Go with either A Song for Xx or Powder Snow. A Song for Xx is actually featured in some Japanese poetry books.

It's true that the translation can be difficult to reconcile with the original. However, because Japanese syntax and English syntax are very different, there is nothing to be done about it, no matter who does the translation.
That said, I think that many of Ayu's songs exhibit talented use of imagery (sensory-evoking expressions) and so on. In order to study poetry, look for some of her more flowery poetry that uses allusions to life, metaphors, and so on. I AM does this quite a bit, I believe.
