Marionette PV interpretation

Yes. You all knew this was coming. We love the drama at AHS so... what do you think ayu tried to transmit us with this PV. I have to say that both (don't) Leave me alone and Marionette are really weird. There were really good interpretations about (don't) Leave me alone, so i would like you to do the same for this PV.
Please no offenses, let's take it easy. I don't want any dead in this fight of ideas XD!

The interpretation of marionette is quite a charm though.
It is a song to just tell everyone to be who they are, brave perhaps, and show your true colours and not to delude anyone. thats what i think

My interpretations are the weirdest possible so I won't talk about them here, lol. Do you want awesome interpretations? Read the ImpactBreaker posts in the PV Thoughts topics.

Is it really necessary to make a separate thread? Why not just post your interpretations in the already-made Marionette PV Discussion thread?

well, people seem to be discussing more about how the PV and shuya looks scary in the other thread, and how it's one of the best PV in this years and how the end didn't make sense LOL

This is what I posted there:

"This is how I interpret this PV:

By reading the lyrics, I think the marionette show represents ayu past relationship. The real ayu is the media+fans eyes to what her life is. In that matter, she pretended her relationship to be beautiful and perfect, to be the role model (the way she's happily portrayed on TV on the PV), but it had flaws. ayu and her lover hid those imperfections by portraying a fake appearance of what it really looked like in order to try to maintain the appearances. This is the reason why "memories" loojk so beautiful, you'll be reminding of the good moments and erase the issues, but her relationship was troubled. In peopple's eyes, they were a perfect couple (reason why everytime the real ayu look at the marionette play, they are all back in their place and shape). It got to a point she was living like a lifeless being, she was not living what she really wanted for her, so she had to put that mask out (when the marionette's eyes becomes real and the strings are broken and she's set free), by admiting their love had flaws and there was more to the "memories" than those fake appearances, the real thing was the love wasn't the same anymore. It explain why she decided to announce her breaking up, despite the fact she was later criticized for ruining the relationship with the "good guy" by some media personalities. However, as she mentioned in past interviews and even on the lyrics, she didn't really care what people would think after that:

"Now, let's stand up without fear
For the sake of no one else

And rip off the masks
With our own hands"

It's interesting how both the song and PV seem to be related to Together When...:

-The PV for Together When... portrays a simillar story, the marionettes theme, the two lovers, the breaking up.
-After Together When... follows Marionette -prelude- and Marionette in sequence on the album GUILTY."

this is my interpretation...its not very deep...so maybe i just caught the surface meaning...but still..

i think its about people...PEOPLE DONT WANNA TO SHOW OTHERS OUR REAL EXPRESSIONS...its like when the BIG ayu looks at the Carousel, they are not alive and are hiding from the truth that they can move and they are alive...

but when she leaves, they reveal...isnt it like most people...hiding their true feelings and revealing once there are no other around?...

the Ayu in the TV...probably symbolizes, people find it easier to express through a medium rather than directly...

and Ayu is the controller of that little box kinda thing wasnt it? So doesnt that make her the controller of the Marionette's life, which in this case is HER too? so all in all, she is controlling her own life...

in conclusion, TO ME, i feel like the PV is strongly related to the lyrics in terms of the parts where she says "Rip off the masks" and to express OUR feelings openly instead of keeping them inside to ourselves..

my take..hehe

ImpactBreaker i'm really loving your pv interpretations!!! I think you do have a lot of reason. I was thinking something like that but i couldn't relate things as well as you did!!

Really good interpretation and very good PV. Now i like it even more

EDIT: And also i like your point freedreamer and i agree with the fact it's strongly related to the lyrics

ImpactBreaker is always really good at discovering deep underlying meanings
However, I myself can't think of anything.

Yeah...ImpactBreaker pretty much said all there was too say about the PV. Although my little point is that after seeing the PV, I'm understanding the title much better. Marionettes, after all, are devoid of emotion. And without emotion, we are basically dead, right? So isn't that a direct reference to the chorus?

We were not born to live
Just putting on a front
And hiding a face
Like the dead

After all, we ARE human, not puppets. So we should act like humans, I think that's what Ayu is trying to say. So I think it's cool that Ayu decided to focus on the face of a puppet, rather than the strings that control it. Nice take.

I agree with impact braker's interpretation, very insightful, but I was thinking maybe the marionette show in the PV is depicting ayu and her life, not just their relationship, but of course including their relationship.
