Is it just me or is the 3rd picture in the bottom row the same as the new one?

This one is a little odd. It's the same picture, but in the new version, it shows more of the top of the picture which was cropped in the original. But then it crops more of the bottom off. Also, it has a weird reddish color and it's not because of the scanning. I took my copy of the photo book and compared it to the forgiveness single and the picture is indeed more red.

The photo book is pretty cool and I loved the idea, but I gotta say I'm a bit disappointed about the croppings and booklet pictures. I thought it was gonna be all never before seen pictures. Did pictures from the photo shoots disappear since they had to just crop the same covers or what?

I mean, it's pretty disappointing that vogue, Daybreak, Free & Easy, forgiveness and INSPIRE are all the same pictures as the original covers. Maybe I was expecting too much. I love the rest of the photo book though.

What do you think?

I like the alternates for WHATEVER, BLUE BIRD, and Mirrorcle World more than the actual covers

The one for Vogue is the same except it's zoomed in a little further.

I don't like the alternate for 'H.'

The only thing I found disappointing was that I've seen some of those pictures before (poker face, appears, audience, UNITE! etc.) I thought all the pictures were going to be like completely secret never before seen ;x Overall it was good..but as you said covers like vogue and INSPIRE were disappointing..come on using the same picture ;-;.

If they did two pictures per single or included album covers too..then that would make up for it

I think they're just showing us what could have been the cover, instead of being in the photobook or whatever.
Not so much of the never-seen-before thing I guess.

And Mirrorcle World alternate cover should sooo have been used.

I'm actually abit disappointed with the photobook, as it's supposed to show alternative covers that we have never seen before; pictures that surprises us, but apparently some are really quite disappointing as

1. it's almost the same as the original ones
2. really unsuitable for being used as a cover and only a few (out of 43!) i.e M, evolution, Depend on you, t2m, dearest, are different and better than the chosen covers.

Thanks for this thread, I didn't even notice some were different. D: The cropping is pretty cheap I think, I'm sure a photoshoot has hundreds of photos, but I think that they haven't been photoshopped for colours, effects etc like these, so they just couldn't be bothered fixing it. xD

I think what most people forget are these were supposed to be the ORIGINAL photos before they were changed to what they currently are. It's not uncommon for some singles/albums to not have any text on them but apparently they decided to use it later on.

I enjoyed it anyway. =P

Edit: not to mention some of them are just extra pictures that were probably considered before being tossed aside.

when I cheked the AUDIENCE ones I started searching the 6 ayus in the original cover
only found one

I'm pretty sure that there's like 8 (give or take a few) that are eligible to actually become covers, and that's the set that they choose from. (At least, according to Ayu's tastes.)

Other photoshoots that take place outside of the area like INSPIRE's and the L.A. strange mansion shoot.. I don't think those were ever going to even be considered "covers".

Well, INSPIRE is different if you will look on backgroung.
Also vogue is different because of drawing art used in 2nd version
Free&Easy in unreleased was also photoshopped, just look at her lips
And there also a difference in forgivness if you will look between her wings

I thought the same, but some of the first singles alternate covers are pretty much untreated. Maybe the newer covers are too heavily photoshopped, so if they showed the original, it would be too obvious

INSPIRE is exactly the same, only it's been cropped a little more to the right, so you see a tiny bit more stone and a little less background. Also, the scan darkens out some of the background

vogue is identical, the scan might make it look a little different, but they're the same.

Free & Easy, again the scan.

forgiveness shows an extra flower, because like I wrote, the cropping is a bit different and shows more of the top.

Now, I don't count a differently cropped picture unreleased, unless the original picture was heavily cropped.

I find it strange that they made the vogue cover out of a zoomed in version of the picture used in Far away, but then they couldn't do the same thing with the other picture

I really liked HEAVEN because it makes you notice that even the simplest of pictures can be completely photoshopped

I'm quite surprised at the LOVE ~Destiny~ alternate cover. It's quite a big difference.

I do think some of the alternative covers are disappointing. cos there is no big difference or something that we have not seen before. The cropped ones are really...not special. lolz.
But I guess it's still nice to have it as a photobook rite. =D

Wow that was quite neat. I liked the concept of alternative covers. Makes you look back at her career. In the end it seemed like a tribute to her fans though some of the images were a bit disappointing when they were identical to the cover versions.

Ugh, when I saw these scans I felt so disappointed by them.
I've seen SO many of them, many of the 'unreleased' versions have been released in magazines and what not.


Just to note.. I think the 'alternate' H picture is in one of the booklets. I think =S

The & picture was also released before. I'm sure I've seen the Dearest one too.

The Dearest was previewed on Music Station prior to the A COMPLETE release. Also, it's VERY similar to the photo used when she had her site lay out featuring Dearest.

Just some of the unreleased covers I find better than the used ones but in most cases the used ones are better!

For example ayu looks so wierd on the LOVE ~Destiny~ cover, the used one is better, but NEVER EVER for example is equally good as the original.

I think it makes sense that the covers would be similar, especially as time goes on, just different poses =/...

the Moments' alternate cover was AMAZING imo
