Ayu (are you) Knocked Off? Bootleg hater thread

Have you ever bought an Ayu CD or DVD and realized its a bootleg?

I love getting all legit stuff but my Auntie bought me A Ballads and 2 concerts but bought then off ebay (the seller claimed them sealed and real and she believed it) and I mentioned to her some funny markings but she assured me they're real. Its unfortunate cos I dont have the heart to tell her ballads and countdown 08-09 are fakes. They're sealed but knock offs

I hate how those pirates steal from artists. Its not fair to the artist or us who want to support them but when we get fooled into buying so called legit stuff it funds their sneaky basement enterprises. I tried telling one once and he was like "no its chinese version" and one once lied about a disney dvd I bought and then when I emailed them about it suddenly no one responds.

I told her to use YesAsia but she likes ebay and I cant figure out how to tell her not to buy me anymore Ayu stuff cos she'll get scammed again. I wish I knew the seller so I can report them but gosh I hate pirates so much.

Maybe you should tell her that you read about a bunch of people being scammed, and shouldn't buy you any Ayu stuff because you don't want her to waste her money. You don't necessarily have to tell her that she's already been scammed once

Was it cheaper than the original price?
If you want to buy official stuff don't trust ebay.

Of course not. But they're the kings of doing it. I didn't feel like spending 10 minutes of thinking about how to phrase it so that no one would misunderstand, so I put it quite simple.

when I was new to buying j-pop cds I bought a lot of bootlegs that I didn't even know were bootlegs for a while.. they were really cheap and I thought I was getting a good deal. since then I always look to make sure it says it's the official Japan version of the CD, and if they don't make it clear I click the "ask seller a question" button on ebay to make sure. it really sucks how people think they can pull this ****. the ayu ones I got that were bootlegged were MY STORY, MY STORY classical and Secret CD+DVD. they said "MIYA RECORDS" on them instead of avex trax. sad part is they cost like 20 dollars each, so I could have bought better used versions of them that weren't bootlegged.

as the years go by, and technology progresses, people get better and better at creating knockoffs that look really authentic. Anyone remember the Together when... bootleg? It's from 2007 too. Amazing that it's completely unofficial too. You'd never know it wasn't real if you weren't a genuine ayu fan and knew it was only a digital single. To top it all off, it's made buy a Chinese bootleg guy. I have a feeling that within the next 20 years you won't be able to tell what's authentic or fake anymore.

you know.. that's probably the only bootleg I wouldn't mind having. it looks SO good plus there's not an official one that actually exists.

That sucks, the good thing though is that even though cds and dvds are easy to copy and bootleg, it's harder to do anything else. It's a lot harder to do...let's say her 10th anniversary usb, or the usb + microsd + dvd in record sized casing love songs album, or any of her picture ayumix 6 vinyls. So if you're buying one of those, you know it's not fake. That or the person is so good at bootlegging, and should be hired by avex to make more copies of their stuff for them.

Yeah the production logos are different. It even had the Ballads booklet inside :s Miya records or something. The countdown came with no booklets at all. I'm also slightly suss about my Duty CD cos it says sm music but also has avex markings. I think its a hk version but its as good as the ^Together When. Is sm on the spine mean its dodge? Anyone have it on theirs?

Haha one time, I bought A BEST on ebay back in my dark ages of Ayu...when the only songs I heard were the ones I could find on limewire, yesasia/cdjapan didn't exist, and ebay was heaven. AAND, to top it all off, I wasn't smart enough to search for legit info on A BEST before I got the CD+2DVD version on ebay..promised to have two DVDs with all of her PVs so far on it. I was thinking, 'HOLY CRAP, THIS IS AMAZING!'. Soooooo, I got it...it came from Malaysia, and it LOOKED fine....but I realized it was a bootleg when I opened it and saw the Memorex CD-R.

I bought a bootleg 5 years ago when I was new to J-Music and hadn't known of bootlegs. Now I buy only about YesAsia or about ebay shops witch high rated.

I think my copy of RAINBOW may be a fake or an overseas version. My best friend bought it for me from somewhere here in Toronto, so... I don't have the heart to tell her, either.
