Ayumis Secret Tattoo

I want to set a few things straight about this tattoo that she's showing off on the cover.

It's not a unicorn, it's a pegasus, or possibly even the Pegasus.

The problem is... a unicorn has a horn, while the Pegasus is a winged horse.

dictionary.com says

Pegasus
1. Classical Mythology. a winged horse, created from the blood of Medusa, that opened the spring of Hippocrene with a stroke of its hoof, and that carried Bellerophon in his attack on the Chimera.
2. Astronomy. the Winged Horse, a northern constellation between Cygnus and Aquarius.

unicorn
1. a mythical creature resembling a horse, with a single horn in the center of its forehead: often symbolic of chastity or purity.
2. a heraldic representation of this animal, in the form of a horse with a lion's tail and with a long, straight, and spirally twisted horn.

Which one is it? Is it a mix? Theories?

There's also the question, will this be some kind of theme that Ayu might stick to during the year? A tour inspired by Greek mythology perhaps?

I must say I do actually not have a clue about what that word might be, and my trustworthy dictionary could not help me, haha. Neither did google.

Kirin doesn't really have wings...

Being a princess of fantasy but never caring for species names of most fantasy animals, I just call it a Winged Unicorn. I'm pretty sure they don't have an official name, at least I've never seen one. It's neither Pegasus nor a Unicorn, though. =/

I have heard of Kirin Beer, and that is also the results google gave me, but I didn't connect that to anything to do with this, as it was only a name to me.

Thank you for the link, it might very well be a kirin, but I wonder, the description isn't exactly accurate for what her tattoo is, but it doesn't exactly fit with unicorn or Pegasus either.

Kirin seems like a sensible conclusion, though, it being a Japanese(?) invention.

Winged unicorn is also a good conclusion.

^A tad extensive .

Mythology is what the majority make them, originally I don't think Pegasuses had anything to do with horns, though.

It seems so, so it's an allacorn, then?

Maybe Ayu didn't dig that deep and just told them, I want a horse with wings and a horn as my tattoo. Do it.

It's only the back half of it we can't see. What if that half would be a... a... a cow?

I think that we can see enough of it to be able to judge, I doubt we'll have any clearer pictures of it. Maybe in the booklet .

I want this booklet, very much.
