Ayu cosplay at concerts? (+help?)
So, just out of curiosity, how do most of you feel about fans attending Ayu concerts donning outfits from her music videos, performances, etc.? Too much? Silly? Fun for others, but not interesting to you? Or would you love to try it?
That said, this summer I'll be going to see Arena Tour 2010 - my first time seeing Ayu live - and I'm seriously considering making an Ayu outfit. Since I'll (and when I say "I," that includes my mother, who actually possesses admirable sewing skills, whereas I do not ![]() |

cosplay might seem silly to others, but it's actually fun when you wear an outfit that you spend time making and you feel happy walking around with it, and people tell you on the job that you have done.
if you have the guts(or suitable weather) to wear it, go for it. My sister is a cosplayer for almost 5 years and she loves it. --------------------------------------------------------- But before you start planning your outfit, may i ask you something? is this your first time cosplaying? if yes, focus more on the outfit, try to make it exactly like the real thing, and your make up too. For cosplay, the important part is how you portray the character, accuracy of the outfit/hair/make up. It is NOT the skin color, nor the size of the cosplayer. If you are a first time cosplayer, you have to be brave to accept that there will be retarded people making lame comments like 'OMG! She does not look like ayu, her eyes are too small and her face is so round!'.... <<<<----- this type of stupid comments that are based on the face instead of the outfit irks me. Seriously, they do not not what is cosplay, what they want is an ayu 99% look-alike, THIS IS NOT COSPLAY. there are some comments like this here in AHS, whenever i see people posting pictures of ayu's cosplayers, for those reading this, you know who you are. BUT not to worry, Japan is very cool about cosplay, hardly anyone will attack you with these stupid comments there. have fun! oh, and if you don't want anything too difficult to make, maybe you wanna try the pink and white 'Alice in Wonderland' outfit ayu did for her CDL09-10? something like this: she was wearing this during the yokohama show on 16th when i went there, and it's not that hard to make. ![]()

Go for it! But you'll be at a concert so you'll want to be comfortable in whatever you're wearing. I think a dress would be out of the question but there may be one you can make work and still be comfortable. I think something from the STEP you video would be cute! Also the outfit she wore on the cover of Rule/Sparkle comes to mind.

i wouldnt say they are silly. I would say they are passionate as they are willing to spend so much time making the costume or so much money buying the costume. but if they were to wear something like Microphone PV's outfit, i would think that it is not practical as it's bulky and take up a lot of space. How to enjoy a concert in this way??
But i did see people cosplaying In The Corner AT2009. Simple and sexy!! or u can cosplay Rule AT2009.. |

I think they look great and it's just fun!
It reminds me of what Namie said~ She would especially notice the people that dressed up like her ![]()

Not trying to so discourage you or anything, but non-cosplayer Japanese people make fun of cosplayers just as much as other people (though it's more behind their backs than out loud). You just have to be comfortable with yourself and what you're doing!
![]() I think the people that do it have a lot of guts! ![]() I remember seeing someone online do the Ladies Night cosplay (with the furry boots and stuff) and thinking it was really cool!

Often, you can see gils, which are really overweight, and than they think, it looks good to wear an Sailor-Moon dress! If they do Cosplay, they really should wear something, what they can wear. BUt it often really looks terrible. |

Do try! And don't worry, lots of people do cosplays of ayu during her concerts. I see at least 10 every time I attend a show.
![]() If you wanna be recognizable, choose some of ayu's quirkiest outfits, like the polka dot pink Ladies Night from AT2006, the pink maid outfit posted by Lacus, this tour's bunny suit, or the sparkly rollin' outfit from AT2009 complete with bob haircut. ![]() If you don't wanna stand out too much, try something from her magazine shoots/TA photos. Those resemble normal clothes more, and you won't feel so conspicuous wearing it. And don't worry about not being recognizable, mostly everyone there is an ayu fan, they will recognize everything lol!! I've seen concert-goers wearing: ![]() ![]() ![]() And don't worry about costume size and everything. I saw a girl in Microphone PV dress during one of the Yokohama shows. Yeah, the black one with the huge skirt. It was so awesome I tell you, I was so proud of her for making and wearing it! ^^

I just realized this, but I have a black tulle ball gown skirt and a grey bodice that could be modified, but otherwise looks exactly like the base of the Microphone PV dress. O.O
Haha, if the concert were within driving distance of me, I would totally wear it, but managed to fit that skirt into a suitcase, much less fly it to Japan wouldn't really work, I think. ![]() ![]() Hmm... |

Seems like some people buy the sets of outfits that the clothing labels post on their websites afterwards.
Like, they have a special section that highlights those outfits... and they go and buy it. I recall Misa-chan also ran into someone who bought the Moschino jacket that was worn on the Rock'n'Roll Circus cover as well as the hat!

I think you should definitely do it. When I went I was amazed by the amount of people who had dressed up and all of them looked really good!
I saw a girl dressed in the outfit on the RnRC cover, a guy dressed as Ayu in Sexy Little Things with the ponytail hat and there were a few girls wearing the school outfit from AT08. Some might laugh at you but others will think it's cool. If you want to do it just go for it ^_^ |
