What's this about a Koda Scandal?

Um, i was looking at another thread saying Koda was kicked off the Kose contract and that Avex stopped promoting Kingdom, and i saw something about Kuu making some kind of "statement" or "scandal" ....im really confused, what exactly is going on?

^That doesn't help

She made a comment on a radio show about how she told her manager she should have kids soon since she's 35, and after that age women's amniotic fluids go rotten. That was basically it to my recollection. Not really as bad as you might think.

Considering 17% of Japanese women supposedly do have uhh bad insides and the problem of getting Japanese people to actually have kids then yeah, it is as bad as you might think.

This is what she said: "Mothers' amnion fluid is rotten once they turn around 35. ...I mean it. It gets dirty."

Don't give me that crap. I'm saying in terms of what someone not from Japan might expect she could have said in order to offend an entire nation, that it wasn't really that bad in relation to some things celebrities say here. The fact that you believe it to be so offensive is entirely subjective, just as I believe it was not intended as such, so don't tell me what I should feel.

^maybe its really sensitive case that happen in japan..so there is so many people angry with her statement..
i think koda regret what she said too...japanese really respect their culture and love their country so much..and i think public apology that koda held is really coming from her heart and she sincere about it...

YEah Bondigo pretty much described what happened XD I am surprised Avex cut her promotion .... That is extreme o_O! Well I guess it could've been worse >_<!

Hm.. At the beginning when I thought about it I was like what was so offensive but after awhile I kinda see why it is offensive. I don't think anyone likes being told that their insides are bad >_<! BUt I honestly think Kuu slipped that out by accident. She should be forgiven for it everyone makes mistakes and I doubt she would say something like this on purpose, especially when she is 35 XD.

This story is CRAZY. (I felt so bad for her during her apology, though.) Isn't she overtalkative, though? She probably kept on talking and didn't realize that those words would come back and, for the moment, ruin her career.

I think I heard that the imperial family got really offended by her words, only because their daughter kept trying to have a child for years and couldn't, or something like that...

It's not a scandal. It's just Japanese people being TOO sensitive and overreacting on an inappropriate sentence by koda. Slap them!

Technically this is a scandal. She said the wrong thing (which was controversal to the Japanese public) and she's being ripped for it.

^ I don't think they're being too sensitive about it o_o If someone told me my insides were turning rotten I would do the same thing. I dunno thats my opinion tho. It'll probably die down soon tho anyways =P!

it's bad for her because she won't be able to do her job to the fullest extent she is now...

that's how it is for every artist, and everyone who isn't in total control of their career, and even for some who are. Kids are a big deal, everywhere.

It's sad the way they are reacting...and I do agree, she should not have said that...I can see how it would be offensive...especially to women who do have problems conceiving and are already sesitive to the subject...but...I don't know, I hadn't heard about this either so, thanks for the info guys

It shows how people's lives depends on the stupidity some pop star says...

Preganat 36yo woman, listening to "FREAKY" suddenly hears about koda's trash loudmouth and thinks: "OMG, my fetus is going to die just because koda kumi said my amniotic fluid is rotten. That witch, I hate her"

overreaction and oversensitivity does describe it well enough

Well, here's an update on the Koda Kumi scandal.

Reactions to Koda's apology

On Thursday, Kumi Koda appeared in an exclusive interview on Fuji TV's "FNN Super News" to apologize for a remark she made on "All Night Nippon" last week. She had stated that "when women turn 35, their amniotic fluid goes rotten," leading to many angry reactions from the public.

During Thursday's interview, she attempted to explain her comment and tearfully apologized for the harm she caused.

Not everyone was convinced, however. An informal poll taken after the broadcast through Sankei Sports' website indicated that 81% of the viewers felt the apology was insufficient, while only 9% said it was enough. Fuji TV later announced that by midnight on Thursday, it had received almost 300 phone calls about the broadcast. About a third of them carried heavy criticism, such as saying that Koda's apology felt insincere. Only 9 of the callers defended the singer.

According to Video Research Ltd., Koda's appearance did not boost ratings. Her apology drew ratings of 10.1%, the same as the average for the show's second half. (Tokyograph, Feb 8, 2008)
