I don't know if this counts, but MOON was recorded during RnRC era also iirc, it was even available for streaming for TA members or something like that. But I wouldn't say it was a leftover at all, I guess it was just a strong song or different from the rest and she decided to release it apart from the album later

The Show Must Go On was the prize song for 2 TA members to sing right? so it might be a song from 2013

^ Ah yes. I remember seeing tweets from the 2 winners saying that the song has finally been released and they're very excited about it ahaha.

I remember Secret was initially announced as a mini album, but then she had a sudden change of heart and turned it into a full album. It makes sense that she would include a previously scrapped song (i.e. It was) to the album since the addition of extra songs were done very quickly! Like, if I remember correctly, less than two weeks. They didn't postpone the release date of Secret.

We also have a CREA composition that was scrapped in lieu of Sparkle.

It was indeed the song that had the winners singing in the background but i wonder if the song itself is from 2013...

This has made me put on LOVE again for re-evaluation and reflection purposes, having been an Ayu fan for 10 years and also finding this album to be really boring coming from Ayu in comparison to the rest of her discography, but still a fairly decent jpop album.
although lol she did right in saving Wake me up for later because Party Queen is perfection and godly as it is. #fiteme

Does scrapped songs mean "ayu wrote lyrics for a melody and put it aside" or "ayu suddenly decided to write lyrics for a composition that's been floating around for a while"?
I guess it could mean both. But at least in certain cases I wouldn't be surprised if it takes quite a bit of time for a composition to be released as a full song since they're as far as I know often a part of a catalogue presented to the singer by the company or something of the sort, even if there are exceptions. In ayu's case she needs to make lyrics for the composition after hearing it or at least adapt already existing lyrics which should take some time at least... A two year delay for a song to be released isn't such a long time then really and pruduction takes some time as well. Some songs sound completely different from CM versions (STEP you and moments are great examples, even the vocals sound completely different from the released versions of the song.) I also remember there were "raw versions" of the tetsuya komuro songs floating around the avex opening side as a synth medley, at at least half of the songs on love songs were a partof that medley and it shows that at leasat for those songs, ayu's lyrics fit the original compositions syllable by syllable... So in any event I presume they were mostly fresh compositions. Allthough you never know how long they've been on Tks computer. =P |

It's not that rare to have 50, 60, 70 songs done to fit a 15 tracks album... Not all of the songs that aren't used are bad, some just don't fit the album direction, some didn't reach their full potential. Every recording artist that has been around for a while has a big catalogue of unreleased songs.

I wonder how many songs were up for inclusion on A ONE since the ones that made it were the "cream of the crop" and just how far some songs got before she cut them.

until that Day... was supposed to be on (miss)understood too (maybe It was as well?).
What's more interesting is if ayu recorded demos of songs she eventually didn't get to use. |

^ until that day... was a interlude for Secret and she liked it a lot and decided to make a complete song.

^GREEN had more emphasize on the traditional instruments and haven't been layered with layers of what we currently have. It's nice.
I'm glad STEP you ended up like we have now instead of that, that sounded unfinished. |

STEP you demo sounds interesting. On the other side, her voice in Moments demo was not that nice. The official version is still amazing, 11 years after release.

I think maybe immature (JT Original CM Version) which included on disc 2 LOVEppears is the true original mix, because the arrangement in that version is really fits in A song for xx album nuance.
