Maybe bean curd simply refers to the fried version and tofu refers to the white blocks? D:
I go to a Vietnamese tofu shop, Dong Phuong Tofu, a lot and they have the fried stuff all prepped with some of the blocky stuff.... not really available. They have soy bean milk and maybe the tofu flower dessert stuff with syrup. :O
