I heard Tohoshinki got the rights for MIROTIC and such, but their song Lovin' you sounds JUST like Ayu's End roll... I figured since they're label mates, that was permitted as well. But in Korea there was the Hyori / Britney Spears thing...

it's not really the same at all. They are all properly credited and it's common knowledge where the songs came from and how all of the compositions are being used by everyone involved.

Exactly. Usually when artists do a cover or "borrow" from other songs they provide credit and the original artist/composer/etc receives some attention. Sometimes they even have to pay. When Ami did a cover of "Potential Breakup Song", Ali and Aj even came to Japan.
