You don't have to worry about the amount of music you listen to, but about how loud and with what kind of speakers. If you listen to music with earphones, that's bad and will destroy your ears, headphones are better already, speakers are best: it's better when it's further from your ear. Turn down the bass a little, that's whats bad for your ears. and simply keep it at a low volume, I, for example, put a limit on my iPod at 50% volume, I NEVER go higher that way and if I'm in a too loud enviroment...I simply think of the music instead...and can't you bring your own ear protection to that factory? buy some, its worth it.

Of course, your hearing WILL suffer from the music and your work, but it will suffer way less if you do it like I described. I actually have hearing damages as well, had them already with 14, worst thing about it is: you don't notice it yourself unless you make a test...and my result was really bad(though still better than the average at that age, most people don't care for their ears before they are like...30 and can't understand a word anymore)
