I completely agree.

Sadly, some people don't seem to realize that.

I think all of this is just misdirected anger and people looking for something else to talk about or something...

As the middle men, forgive me if I might say the wrong things. But first of all, considering her financial status, she really should donate more than just 1 mil yen. If she could spent so much on her shopping expenses, why can't more be made? Moreover, it's her own comrades that is facing the death. If, it was some other country or this was just a sole-tsunami disaster, this amount would be just fine, but to stress again, it's her own nation and citizens facing both physical damage and economical damage.

I know for sure someone's gonna start another debate against the paragraph ^ . But I don't wanna care about that.

It's already a good thing that she uses her influence as a form of help. I hope more people will donate more to the poor Japan, that is the only thing we citizens can do now.. Bless Japan.

Yeah, and because Ayu is always at the forefront of the media as a celebrity, it seems that she is often targeted. Who would want to hear a gossip story about a nobody?

I mean, how many other artists have been pregnant a dozen times, cheated on their significant other, gotten STDs, been rude to Thai royalty, and so on over the years? (according to tabloids)

I guess it's just one of those things that comes with the insane amount of fame Ayu has. And for the record, according to a TeamAyu blog, she donated not once, not twice, but three times. But she did it in private because she does not believe it is right to parade around and talk about how much/how many times you donated it publicly. That imo, is class. And suck on that, tabloids.

She did. And I think she did sums of a million plus more than once. Not going to say I'm sure since I don't really know 100%. I think this is all coming out of her own pocket as an individual, so even though it doesn't seem like much, she's a single person. (For example, this one Japanese company I know of donated 10 million yen, and as a company they probably make MUCH more than Ayu does individually.) Even if she did only donate a small amount of money, she is spreading awareness and encouraging people (including her fans) to donate. She has been considering a charity concert and now has a charity T-shirt that will have 100% of the profit going towards victims. That is above and beyond imo. (though I think Lady GaGa is doing something similar, haha.)

Get your facts right. Ayu has donated 5 million yen. She's #1 on the ranking.

http://justgiving.jp/ranking/support...ter_donate_sum

Namie is not even on the list. People are just speculating that she's donating more than Ayu.

That was more of an effort of AKB -and- AKB's fans. That is a TON of money though.

The article said that the money they announced today, the 6.2 million was donated by the members and there staff, which i started thinking about. is a little under 130,000 USD per person of the main 48...

Together its impressive, and i dont want to say, they should of done more because we are already going back and forth. Its still a private matter. Like religion and politics, lol.

I think people are putting why to much on how much certain people ahve donated... by i guess it can be takin as somewhat of a complement? I mean they expect more out of you because they respect YOU more..

I could just be grasping at straws though...

It's only one site for donating, so I doubt Namie hasn't donated. However, it was idiotic for the show to speculate a total for Namie's donations (when they don't even know if she did or not) while they say Ayu hasn't donated and Ayu's donations are kind of RIGHT THERE for everyone to see online. And suck it up about the Namie thing. I swear, people say crap about Ayu ALL the time even here on an Ayumi Hamasaki fan forum and it gets to you for a while before you realize it doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things.

And if you read the AKB article a little more closely...

Quote:
Yesterday it was announced that AKB48 has set up two bank accounts in collaboration with the Japan Red Cross Society in order to give their fans an easy and secure way to donate money for the disaster relief efforts.
I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the money came from fans.

I was talking about this part
Quote:
It was already known that the members of AKB48 and its sister groups have already contributed to the accounts, but the exact amount hasn’t been revealed until today. According to Sanspo, Akimoto Yasushi, all the members of AKB48, SKE48, NMB48, SDN48, as well as their management AKS and the staff of Akimoto’s office have donated a total of 500 million Yen ($6.2 million USD).
Unless im not understanding that part right??? I could be wrong of course...

I think this is precisely why Ayu feels the way she does about donating in the public eye.

Namie is known for donating large amounts to charity, so I wouldn't doubt it. She doesn't live a very extravagant life style either, so I'm sure she has the money to spare.

As for this whole thing in general though, I haven't heard anything about it.

If i had the millions of dollars to donate i wouldnt go announcing it, because you will have to group that starts stuff like this, where she didnt donate enough...
then you would have the group that says "she just wants attention.. an album is coming out..."
And then there is the always fan favorite.. 'I LOVE YOU!!!!"

I just wish the media would focus on helping people themselves instead of throwing how much celebrities donated towards the relief fund around. It's not really important how much they donated.
