two things... I hate to say it and it may be the recording, but she sounds pretty flat.
+ I kinda feel like my interest for J-Pop is fading away as her retirement is approaching and it kinda worries me.

her voice was pretty flat in both concerts I went to. plus the final one, after chase the chance if im not mistaken her voice started to crack. I actually like it, for me it gives a natural feeling to it, but I understand many will dislike it.

And Hikki is going strong this year. Plus, Namie has so much music in her library, we can always enjoy, and plenty of concerts to watch.

Trying to find a silver lining.

I think that's totally normal, if she's your favourite artist.
Give yourself some time and then you can see, if the interest comes back again.

I honestly wish I could have experienced seeing her live. Didn't win any lotteries and by the time tickets we're actually available for sale I didn't have the money to cover those/stays at a hotel. Such a shame since it's been a dream of mine to see her live at least once. To that I will say I plan on buying all 5 versions of the dvd and happily make it part of my collection. This almost feels like a funeral, I truly wish her the best, she was and always will be my ultimate favorite jpop artist.

The vocals sounded a bit strange to me. Like her voice was being matched with backing vocals. It kind of took away any nuance to the vocals. But they don't sound different from recent concert dvds to me.
But I do feel a little sad about all of this. It really adds perspective. I can't believe how much time has passed and how quickly. Seeing this era of Jpop fade away makes me sad.

It was hard to choose which version to go for but decided on Nagoya in the end. I really love how she's doing a "set" like this instead of just a standalone release of the Finally tour.

lol for the bonus gift for purchasing from Tsutaya... I wonder if Namie's staff noticed/will notice the replica staff pass says "Thanks All Funs" instead of "Thanks All Fans"?

You're not alone in that. Actually, my interest in music in general has gone down a lot. I'm the type of person who's been listening to the same people for as long as I can remember and haven't really found anyone that could pique my interest as much as the people I listened to as a kid had. Wonder if that's just part of growing up though.

That said, I'm really going to miss Namie. This final year has gone by so fast. She inspires me a lot in my own work; to always try my hardest even when I'm not sure what to do, to keep moving forward, to do what feels right for me as a person and not what others expect of me. She may not be releasing any more music but those things will stay with me forever. (I may be getting a bit too sentimental here.)

Anyway, anyone else here remember when they first discovered her? For me it was shortly after she released Queen of Hip-Pop. I was really, really into BoA and was looking for another artist that could match her performing skills as a dancer and a singer. Someone on BoAjjang told me to look up Namie Amuro. I had heard about her before (because of Inuyasha, of course) but knew nothing about her. I remember saying something snarky like "Yeah, okay, Namie can sing but can she dance?"

The person laughed at me and spent the rest of the day sending me links to Namie performances where she absolutely rocked it. I watched every single one of them, then spent the rest of the week trying to find her discography. Been a fan ever since. Holy s*** that was, what, 13 years ago? I was 12. Wow, time has flown.

I first really started listening to Namie after "say the word" was played on a j-pop streaming service on one of the music players I used to use. Winamp. Anyone remember this fossil? Lol

It was actually the video that was streamed. And I thought she looked so cool. I had heard of her by this time, but I was too into Ayu to care about other artists lol. So after this I downloaded a bunch of her music.

I believe All for you was about to be released.
But I was super into Shine more. Haha

Oh dear , LOL

Today's Ryukyu Shimpo newspaper

https://twitter.com/ryukyushimpo/sta...68811174481920

I discovered Namie at the same time alongside with Ayu , Koda , Utada when I 1st began listening to Japanese music

At that time , I was blown away & so obsessed (still) with Hide & Seek and back then I didn't know PVs were made for album tracks cos I assume PVs were only made to promote singles

Over the years I listen and support even more Japanese artistes in different music genres but I still hold Namie in high regard

I think those who support Namie since the Super Monkey's era will feel her retirement impact a lot more than me but I think we all can agree that the JPop scene wouldn't be the same once mid September rolls by :x

Oh god, that makes me so nostalgic! I used winamp all the time back then. Do you also used those fanmade skins? I had a lot of fanmade Ayu skins for winamp.

My first Namie song was Come, I think. It was played on a jpop online radio I used to listen to. This was like 14 or 15 years ago. Time really flies.

My home tutor knew that I was into Ayu and recommended Namie to me at that time, around 2004? She lent me this J-Pop compilation CD from 1998 and it had I HAVE NEVER SEEN on it. Moments later, I bought the VCD for the SO CRAZY tour, not having that much interest (now one of my favourite concert of hers). Fast forward to PLAY, that was when I got obsessed.

My first japanese music were from animes such as Sailor Moon or Card Captor Sakura which I watched on TV, then from Ayashi no Ceres.
At this time I had a skyblog and someone presented Ayumi.
So I began with her and then Hikki and Kumi. It was in 2004/2005.

I began to hear about Namie with the single Baby don't cry in 2007!! I don't know why I didn't listen to her before, think I was busy with Ayu! But I loved her album Play, such great songs and from this point, I never stopped to listen to Namie. So I'm a 11 years fan lol. Namie never disappointed me with her singles or albums and it is rare I think.
