After the fall of Megaupload and Rapidshare, where most of files where storaged, and also the end of Jpopsuki 1.0, things started to get harder for sharing jpop media. For old performances and old media in general, everything was basically from Jpopsuki 1.0, and when it went down, it took everything with it.
Such a sad moment.The

If anyone actually used MEGA, the replacement for MU from the same guy, it's still around but who knows for how long. I think there was just a general shift in the Jpop community towards full show rips for most acts. Like we still get the stuff cut out for Ayu, but a lot of other fandoms don't get that luxury.

^ Yeah, that's what I mean. Every artist used to have their performances cut out. We are lucky to have this forum here where must of her performances are available in some way, but I'm not aware of any other artists having a fan site or something along the lines that have archived everything. No, wait, I take that back. There is https://matsuurian.com/rsaya/ayaya.htm; literally has every performance of Aya Matsuura ever. I had lost all my Ayaya files in a hard drive crash and was able to recover everything from here.
Losing J-pop Suki 1.0 and Hello-online.org was a huge blow to artist performances from the mid-90s through around 2010. There was another jpop tracker prior to jpopsuki as well and lots of old files were lost when that went down. The file trading platforms that people used in Japan are obsolete as well. Stuff like Utatane and Winmx have hardly anyone on them and I am not aware of replacements. Last edited by SunshineSlayer; 26th June 2020 at 12:34 AM. |

I think the people who used to do that just fell out of J-pop or went to on to other things... or just stopped paying attention to music industries in general. What used to be done for the J-Pop fandom is now done rather regularly for Korean pop.

Probably have to do with Japan's stricter anti-piracy laws?

^ Maybe, but people usually find a way of doing anyway, so it's probably under the radar. JPTVTS is still active, but good luck trying to be invited there.
And yeah, I do believe a lot of people lost interest. Even on Baidu I don't see a lot of things being upload anymore. Nowadays when there is something that I'm interested, I download the whole show and cut what I want. It's awful having to download 30GB for a 200MB cut sometimes, but well... It is what it is. lol But at the same time, I see a lot of older stuff from Ayu being upload on youtube, and with good quality. I never thought that I would actually see one of my favorite performances of Seasons (on CDTV) with good quality. Spoiler:

They will stream A "SUUMER" BEST's DISC-N in a few hours. I hope when they stream DISC-A they use monochrome's ct2000 perfomance, I know she sounds better on STADIUM TOUR, but the former is just iconic.

Me too. I have a pretty decent amount in high quality because I was heavily involved in the file trading scene way back when, but never got them all and now those people have disappeared.
Youtube has been interesting because a couple of performances have shown up that I never saw circulating as files, but in general quality wise I haven't seen anything that's better than average for the most part. NHK and Fuji TV have released box sets for Akina Nakamori, Yamaguchi Momoe, and a few other artists that contain all the performances they did on those networks. Here's hoping that the same happens for artists from the 90s/00s at some point, but that is such a long wait lol. And I actually didn't even know about JPTVTS. I had wondered where all the variety and drama torrents had disappeared to. Last edited by SunshineSlayer; 27th June 2020 at 06:27 PM. |

CDTV released 3 DVDs with guest lives, back in 2017, with singers from the 90s and 00s. I guess they weren't that popular, because they never extended the series. Since CDTV is one of my favorite music shows, I would love to see a release for Ayu.
https://ishop.tbs.co.jp/tbs/org/life/cdtv/ I've been trying to get an JPTVTS invitation for years now, at this point I just let it go. haha

^Yep, I saw those. I believe they were only done as a limited series for CDTV's anniversary. If you search for Every Little Thing performances on Youtube, there are some very high quality ones and likely came from that DVD. Even those sets aren't all inclusive though since I don't see any performances from their new years countdowns or any other non-regular episodes.
It is a very niche market. The box sets for older artists run several hundred dollars. Would totally pay that for some of my favorite artists though. Makes me wonder if the networks have rights to all of the performances on them or if the artist does and still needs to give permission. Like, I can't imagine them releasing box sets for Akina and Momoe, but not Seiko Matsuda. Same with the CDTV stuff; why TRF, Yuzu, and ELT over Namie or Ayumi for example? |

Does anyone know where i can find the subtitled version for this documentary? I remember watching the English subtitled version a few years ago but can't seem to find it anywhere online.

I think it's been removed often.
Someone stuck an unlisted version up somewhere though. May want to download this copy just in case. Worst case scenario though if it does disappear, someone here probably has the subtitle files at least or the original rip from a while back. https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=1231273220051 A Facebook rip in a bunch of parts has also been up for a decade+ now as well!

@truehappiness
Thanks. I wonder why they keep removing it while everything else from Ayu's on youtube. This is a great documentary. I love how Ayu has to approve everything herself. She's basically her own producer. |

That's what Max has said basically since the beginningish. At least during lives we get the "All produced by ayumi hamasaki"...
I think it's probably removed because the TV station doesn't really check often or people get their account closed for other copyright strikes.
