I don't care if Kuu (or anyone else) covers a song.. but Kuu's CWGB sounds kind of... weak. especially when compared to the original :/ not feeling it so far

(why couldn't she cover a better Kelly song? she has so many great songs =.=)

Kuu could cover Because Of You, or Behind These Hazel Eyes, or even Sober omg but WHY this? It doesn't really match with her style in the first place...

sorry to say, but Kelly Clarkson trumps over Kuu's version. :3 it's a nice song, but i think Kelly's version is much better vocally.

i'm interested to hear Kuu's whole version though.

I'm neutral towards the preview. I was never a huge fan of Kuu singing rock songs

so if this wasn't a kelly clarkson original, but kuu was still singing it, it would be ok? geeze, i mean it's not like it won't still be "new." she's not singing the entire english version, plus most people don't even know how it sounds O_o.

and seriously, i feel like there are always some people who support j-music that seem to always think anything that comes from the west is bad. *sigh*

i think the preview sounds good. i mean i'd rather her cover a not-that-famous song rather than a HUGE hit. If she covered one of Kelly's no.1 hits there would be a lot more comparison. when it comes to covers, it's not about sounding the same. kuu is still going to add her own style to the song and make it her "own." so just try to see it as kuu likes the song and wanted to add it to her own discography and she hopes her fans will like it too and except it as her own. i doubt it has ANYTHING to do with her needing a new songwriter or avex being "stupid" because they "constantly" want her to release singles. that pressure from avex ended when her peak ended.

Oh yeah, I remember someone saying that Physical Thing is a cover, and I had no clue because I've never heard it before lol I think that covering a song should be... well, only for fun, or if you want to make it 1000x better. For me its not that its a Kelly Clarkson song, but that its bound to have a lot of engrish, which always makes me groan when I hear it (Kumi's version of Whole New World is like a sadistic party game my friends and I play from time to time). I love a lot of Kumi's rock songs, when she chooses the right ones she can really belt it out and they're usually on the top of my fave Kumi songs list. But she's also chosen songs in the past that haven't suited her voice as much, which this could possibly be one of, but we won't really know until the full thing comes out. I'm still waiting to hear the whole thing before I make up my mind fully, since 30 seconds isn't much to go off of.

Unfortunately, when you cover *any* song that has been formally released in the past it will be next to impossible to escape comparisons (unless people never hear the original). I think the thing about Physical Thing and Run For Your Life (though not actually covers) was that we have the original demos to listen to, so comparing the two is an automatic reaction. Its easy for Kumi to excel over both of those originals because they were demo tracks (at least RFYL was), and demo vocals usually have less to them than a true studio recording. The whole point is to have enough to the track to sell it to a record company or artist, but not spend a lot of money on production if it isn't necessary. But that's just my theory.

I was looking forward to her 'new' rock song but now that its a cover...hmmm. Feels like she released it for the sake of releasing something before her long awaited album. I;m not sure if I'm disappointed because the song really sounds good (i really LOVE Kelly Clarkson's latest album...though I dont have that bonus track) and Kuu sang it in a lower key, so probably it would be better for singing too. But I really wanna see how Kuu makes this original...her tone is sounding too much like Kelly?

I don't think anyone should really cover a Kelly Clarkson song. Her covering a different Kelly Clarkson song (a hit) would probably piss me off so much more.
I agree with Kesteral, I dislike Kuu's Engrish a lot of the time. Here is a list of songs that were ruined (or at least partially ruined) for me because of her Engrish:

It bothers me the most in ballads. So far her English doesn't sound that bad in the CWGB preview but we'll have to see how it is in the full song.

So many thing to look at when I get home from work! (can't view videos here >_<). She really has gone back to super blonde again... hmm... I wonder how long it will last, since its a really hard thing to upkeep (I don't think it lasted that long when she went bleach blonde for Freaky. She went somewhat darker pretty quickly after the major promo for the single was past). At least her hair seems to be growing out a bit... maybe?
