I have maybe 21 cds, and I don't think it's big enough! I want more cds xD But usually I can't afford Jpop, so I only get it on holidays like X-mas and my birthday, or whenever relatives give me money for some reason. I can say one thing-I hope my Jpop isn't a phrase. My mom will get mad at me for spending so much money on cds, that's for sure.

But I understand where your coming from with the Jpop thing My mom was like "I don't want to see no more Japanese things coming in your room." I stack my the top of my computer desk. My dad told me "One day all those cds are going to fall on you and kill you." I just laugh it of when they say that but I must admit My CD is getting a lil big.

Oh my ~~; I have about...maybe 30 CDs, not counting the burnt ones. I still have way more English music that's mostly leftover from before I discovered J-pop. I really don't see what the problem is. I love Japanese culture; it's virtually going to be my career. And even if I didn't love it as much, music is music! The only thing I'd worry about is paying for it and finding the shelf space for the cases. =D

I don't think people should feel ashamed about their hobbies...unless it's something grossly illegal... *whistles* But you know what I'm referring to. How can you thoroughly enjoy something if you're constantly worried about what other people will think about it? I openly listen to artists like Maaya Sakamoto out in public. (I use her as an example, because I was listening to Hotchpotch on the bus one day when somebody wanted to listen. It was one of her earlier songs so her voice was really squeaky...I got a lot of flac )

And "immature"? I'll probably continue collecting My Little Pony dolls for the rest of my life! I still listen to CDs I don't really like anymore, but I used to. I get a lot of pleasure out of the "memories" they give me. I can remember listening to some Britney Spears song when I was 11 and just feeling so happy and dancing like I do to say...Ayu's remixes today. In the realm of the world I don't like those songs anymore, but the memories are still worth their value.

And hey, if I were to ever get sick of J-pop one horrible day, then I'm sure that that'll still be whordes of collectors willing to pay money for my CDs!

Yeah I see what you mean... but when you buy the cd just for one or two songs only, you'll probly regret about that one day. Just like me... buying Ricky Martin's first English album because of Livin la vida loca... NSync's cd because of the song "Pop", and Alanis's cd because I just liked the song "Thank you". I feel so stupid about myself now... why I would spend over 10 bucks for a song?? It's like I won't listen to these cds anymore anywayz.. If I wanna listen to the songs I can find mp3s of them.. I dunno... but buying mp3s is rather a better idea nowadays... You just choose the song(s) you like from the artists you dun get obsessed with. On the other hand, spending 50 bucks for an ayu cd is nothing at all... cuz i like her so much...

mine is pretty small, close to... 2 albums XD. roflmfao. that's it, only two JPop albums, I do have over 100 CDs but they're all in english and they're all full of dust now, I ripped most of it to my HD and now I see no point in popping a CD into the CD player.

I know what you mean xD
I have alone over 90 Ayu CDs and also a few (or perhaps a bit more than a few xD) ohter artistīs CDs, and also lots of DVDs and goods. I have a little cupboard where I put all my stuff.
On the bottom tehre are CDs and itīs full, so I started to put all the newer CDs in front of the others.
On the Top I have magazines there is only few space left xD
And in the middle I have the rest and there is also not much space. And I have 3 Postertubes full of posters and with my new arrivals I can fill a 4th xD
So youīre not alone honey

i think you're worrying too much. i'll be 24 tomorrow and i still listen to jpop, probably more now than ever. i've listened to it consistently for a least 5 years now and there are no signs of me getting tired of it. i mean, liking jpop is the same as liking the music from your country...and why should you have to limit yourself in your interests just because you think its "geeky?" i don't think it means you are immature, its just part of what you like...so why worry so much? and 71 cds is honestly not that much really.

music is music, you like what you like, so just enjoy it.

Exactly, that's what I would say if my sis asked me why I liked it [not that she ever has, I could talk for ages on why I love it) but I feel I couldn't tell any work colleagues (not that there'd be much to say lol, I don't think they listen to jpop lol) because there would be too many questions etc. Not that I'm ever really asked about what music I like. I was walking over to Tesco at lunch one day when a colleague asked me what I was listening to and I was like urm...radio (was actually listening to My Story, think it could be Carols).

Onto the obsession topic, not sure if this is just me. Sometimes when I'm going over to Tesco at lunchtimes I'll go over the same time as one of the other guys, who's nice and all but we don't have a lot to say to each other. I actually walk a different way from him so I can listen to some jpop lol. Cause sometimes when I walk with it's total silence & I'm just thinking "could be listening to some jpop now, come on I need my fix"

And LMAO at your dad's comment Akurei about all your CDs falling on you. I'm jealous of your collection too lol!

EDIT: thought of a kinda random thing to say. Ever since I've realised how big my jpop collection is, I'm going to concentrate on listening to some of my older CDs more often (which I anyway, but not so much recently cause I've been buying so many CDs). My sis always asks me "do you actually listen to all your CDs" and I can say that I actually do with the exception of 1 album and ok maybe some singles (but only cause I have them on the album) Oohh I'm feeling all nostalgic for Adagio by Sweetbox now. Anyway listening to Kumi's affection right now.

SECOND EDIT:

Quote:
I can see what you mean. My collection isn't that big (about 35 CDs?) On one hand, I wan't to buy more, I really want to have a big collection. But on the other hand, I'm kinda skeptic about having so many CDs, like what I'm going to do with them when I'm older, like, an adult. And then I think, "When I'm older, will I still be into collecting?" I think about the whole maturity thing also. I try to not think about it. @_@
Yes! Your whole post sums up exactly how I feel. I've always been a bit of collector (even my mum says so)

I've enjoyed reading everyone's responses to this thread BTW

Ok I did it. I counted everything @_@ It made me dizzy XD.

339 CDs
9 dvds
6 VCDS
8 Shirts
4 Towels
5 Wrist Bands
2 Cups
3 Phone Straps
1 Socks
2 Glow Sticks
1 Pen
1 Lolly Pop
1 Fan
1 Tin
1 Bag
2 Phamplet
46 Cards
3 Photo Books
5 Magazines
1 Sticker Sheet
25 Posters
5 Post Cards
3 Lamaniated Photos
2 Glossy Photos

If you want to add the stuff im waiting for:

41 CDS

so total would be:

339CDS + 41CDS = 380 CDS
5 Magazines + 17 Magazines = 22 Magazines
5 Post Cards + 2 Post Cards = 7 Post Cards
1 Phamplet + 1 Phamplet = 2 Phamplet
2 Stickers + 1 Stickers = 3 Stickers
2 Calenders
9 DVDS
6 VCDS
46 Cards
3 Photo Books
3 Lamaniated Photos
2 Glossy Photos
8 Shirts
4 Towels
5 Wrist Bands
2 Cups
3 Phone Straps
