I guess Ayu's sales are expected, I mean, she is releasing a mini-album, that is much more like a single, in the same week that JUJU is releasing two full best albuns.
And considering that the difference between JUJU and Ayu's sales are not that big, I would say she's doing well...

^ actually that is not entirely true.
the majority of reviews love the album...

a select view find it to be a 'disguise', but it seems to mirror what people on here say too... I'm not surprised that some fans fell cheated, but oh well. Their loss.

I think people need to get over it. It's a mini, plan and simple.

If she wanted number 1 she/avex could promote more the album and get above JUJU. But now I think she only want to sell what her fans want to buy, not over promote it and get people who in fact don't want the album buying it...
I mean, sales must not be the same for old artist that for new artist is.

That's the smallest 2nd day drop in sales I've seen from Ayu in a long time, but maybe that's because day 1 was not as high as usual.

Wow, the fact that Ayu's only using her name to sell this, i mean there's no promo at all, is remarkable, after 14 years and a half in a very diverse market.

But promotion is still necessary to make her relevant. I wonder what she's planning for the next five months.

As much as TOX is the best tie-in she had in ages, debutting at top 3 is really good for her. The more I see this, the more I don't get who says she's over or ~a flop queen~ though. But whatever lol.

AAA and koda kumi? LOL..........HOW DO THEY GET MORE PROMO THAN AYU? I'd really like to know.

you should have put tohoshinki. anyway toho, exile, namie and kis my ft sell way more than ayu and have been for a long time...so why would avex even bother to give ayu the same promo as them? it should also be noted that avex doesn't even handle namie, exile and ks my ft's promo but anyway.


it seems a lot of ayu fans have the mentality that tv performances are basically the best and only way of promotion same with those random trucks driving around major cities. idol groups that sell 20k have those trucks driving all around japan they aren't a big deal.

how come when lack of promo comes up no one mentions her magazine covers? every time ayu releases something new she is GUARANTEED two or three very high profile covers. also is everyone forgetting about her kindle fire tie-in? she's EVERYWHERE with ads for it including the front page of amazon.jp. and then of course TOX 2 which is only one of the most anticipated games of the year for japan, again not a big deal

ever since NEXT LEVEL the whining for "lack" of promotion has seriously got out of hand and really annoying. obviously she doesn't get as much compared to the old days but hello it isn't 2003 anymore. i especially love it when people call avex greedy and money hungry...then one post later say how they give her no promo basically insinuating that avex wants her to flop lol.........

i don't think i can name 5 lol but whoever they are, ayu's still selling pretty well for an artist who is ten years over from her prime. wait for another 10 years and i'm sure her name is still charting (if ever she's still releasing music at the time).

As much as I love Song 4 u, Missing and Melody, they weren't worth standing at #1 place. It hurts me to say it, but this "mini album" has almost no content to qualify for a #1 ranking. Also, perhaps it could have reached higher if she actually got more promotion done? It seems minimal, previous album releases had multiple trucks with the album covers slammed on it (perhaps this time too), but we got those pictures before the release. I haven't seen any decent promotion so far for the "mini album".

But I don't think they were going for the #1 place anyway.

Ayu definitely isn't a flop... Yet.
She hasn't dipped to CK/Ami Suzuki/Angela Aki levels yet.

When that happens, she will surely be partying alone. God, I love that tumblr pic.

Anyway, where are them covers/tracks? I cannot wait.
