I don't think there is any more point to the conversion, lol. You have your thoughts and I have mine. However, I will say;
They strive to break a record and as soon as they do, by 1 single they stop... why not continue? Why wait? Her sales just keep dropping which just makes it harder and harder to get another number 1. So to say she is waiting... well, is pointless.

When i say that they dont care about it, i dont mean they didn't care about getting to it, but they have it now, it doesnt matter what happens anymore. She can release a complete flop and she will still hold the same record. True, she wouldn't be able to extend it, but whats the point? And why even bother? The way her sales are going, she couldn't even if she wanted too.

And for my last statement, it I forgot the 'just'

and the record is not just for original studio albums but just ( i could say all) albums, so Best and what not are included

Makes sense now. And you might be right, still the fact that they haven't released a physical single since 2010 does tell one something...especially when Ayu used to release 2-3 singles per year for the past 6 years or so.

that is true, but it could be a number of reasons.
releasing a single might mean she has to perform it live and we clearly see she doesn't want to perform on television, lol.
The only time she has done it in the past 2 years for at the new years eve, besides the concerts that she was at.
it could very well be in her contract that she has to perform the song live when she releases a single so she found herself a loop hole by only releasing mini-albums.

I will say that the last 2 years of her career have been very very different and there are just too many possible reasons why.

a) She performed at FNS summer Festival this year and Music Station last year(twice and a third one was sheduled), both not New Years' shows, both not in support for a single
b) She released several singles without promoting them on TV at all - or only singing them several months later. Even in 2010 she only promoted 2 of her 4 singles that year on TV - the other two were only performed at year end shows when the singles practically stopped charting already. So such a part of her contract either has exceptions to it, is VERY broad or simply doesn't exist.

the FNS summer would be part of the concert series I included, along with anation which I wouldn't really consider something as promotion (in the sense of ayumi promoting something instead of entertaining) , because its not just her, its a big group of artist.
She performed life, which wasn't promotion for anything, but a benefit.
and she promoted FIVE once.

She did Microphone four times all in the month of Rock n Roll circus.
She did crossroad twice in september for that release
and Moon, Virgin Road, and Love Song all in December for the album Love Songs.

I will say i was wrong about 2010, but you will notice in a heavy year of releases she performed a ton during those times of releases.

I already went over 2011, but only 3 performances and only two of those could be considered promotion... She was supposed to do another one, but she could have rescheduled.
this year, nothing. (besides the 2 concerts that were televised)

of course it could also be that every year her contract is renewed and she changed how many times she had to appear on television? Anything is possible really.

Wow, nice pic, it looks so melancholic o: And yeha very likely DEJAVU, again, all these things are related to the mini concept. But this is not from the cover, is it? I remember ayu posting a pic in a green garden when they were shooting the covers.
