ESCALATE and Lay Down are really boring filler tracks tbh, No Man's Land is ear-gasmic omg, dat chorus <3 Interlude is so sexy unf and I LOVE Everyday and IN THE AIR, so light and fluffy. Poppin' is awful, KO-SO-KO-SO is still sexy, Ai wo is cute.
They are my favorites, along with Boom Boom Boys and So Nice!!! I'm like, personally offended

The only songs I think really are fillers are Everyday, You are not alone, and maybe ESCALATE. Everything else may sound fillerish (like Brave), but I get the feeling that she tried really hard to only pick songs that would stand out on the album.

Edit: Oh, and All for you, of course. lol I forget that song exists cause the album ends at P'lc as far as I'm concerned.

Party Queen may be a lot of things, but it certainly isn't "basic" lol

anyway

my favorite tracks from DH4 are definitely
Slow feat. Omarion [Prog5 vs. FUTURE HOUSE UNITED Remix]
Teaser feat. Clench&Blistah [Caramel Pod Dubstep Remix]
め組のひと [THE LOWBROWS Remix]

Need to give some of the other remixes a chance, but mehhhh....

For western fans Everyday n Brave of course sound like fillers, while these two are most popular tracks from the al according to iTunes. Don't tell me you r surprised. But seriously Lay Down is A filler? lol I'm sure even a single Brave performance at MSta would have boosted sales.

DH4 1st week sales 9,595. I think total sales will be around 16k. Driving Hit's 5 nxt yr plz.
my fav remixes from 4th so far are:
Teaser feat. Clench & Blistah [Caramel Pod Dubstep Remix]
Melting [DJ OMKT & MJ Remix]
め組のひと [THE LOWBROWS Remix]
愛証 [Shohei Matsumoto & Junichi Matsuda Remix]
WON'T BE LONG [United Colors Remix]

And omg plz don't start another round "Ayu vs. Kumi" just to keep this thread alive. lol

True. Japan loves cheesy generic ballads. And cute songs.

On a side note, Ai no Uta has grown on me a lot. I used to think it was such a boring song, but the other day I watched a live of it and wanted to tear up. I also love Yume no Uta and Anata Dake ga now too. What still does nothing for me is Suki De and Ai wo-whatever.

I absolutely love DH4 (as the previous). so far my favourite remixes are:

Slow
Walk
Suki de (x3)
Aisho (love to see a new arrangement for this amazing and underrated song!)

Keep on listening to the other remixes, some of them have big chances to grow on me

My problem with a lot of her remix albums, and this is the reason that I'm unable to really rank them, is that I find that much of the time the remixers create a beat they think is cool and slap the vocal track over top, and it annoys me to no end. The remixes that I do like are the ones where the remixer either chops up the vocals and uses them in a way that compliments the beat, like the Butterfly remix on DH4, or creates a beat that is specific for that track like Bounce and Freaky from DH3. When I listen to a remix, I want to feel like I'm listening to a whole new song, like Suki de on DH4, where the vocals and beat mix well. With some of the remixes I can't get the original beat out of my head because what Kuu is singing doesn't match the beat that is playing.

I hated Ai no Uta originally, but when she did that song at Music Station with Lick Me, I fell in love with it. I love when she changes the arrangement drastically because it almost always sounds better, especially when she sings it kind of Soul.

Nail Max's and Edge Style's interviews feature mostly stuff we've heard before, so I just summarized them:

Quote:
Edge Style (2012 April)

-She made JAPONESQUE while wishing overseas audiences would learn more about Japan’s beautiful music.
-She worked on JAPONESQUE and her Hall Tour at the same time so the schedule was gruelling but it was a period in which she wanted to create a lot of music.
-The songs she makes depend on her mood. She compares it to the way she might want to dress cutely one day, but dress in a cool manner on another day.
-She uses Japanese dancing (nichibu) in So Nice’s PV. She learned nichibu when she was still a child. She didn’t like the lessons back then but now she’s glad she had them.
-In the past she felt she had to sing in a cool and mature manner, but now she can sing and perform more naturally. Seeing the audience enjoy her performance makes her happy.
-She doesn’t do weight training. Rehearsing gives her a full work-out and helps her build up strength and lung capacity.
-She says that, though she might be married and a soon-to-be mother, Koda Kumi will continue to stay on the attack as always.
Quote:
Nail Max (2012 April)

-When she went abroad, she got the feeling that the Japanese music scene is falling behind. She wants to show the good points of Japanese culture and music through JAPONESQUE.
-She dislikes exercising and going to the gym. She exercises by rehearsing the dance routine for her songs.
-Skin gets dry easily in the winter so she makes sure to use lotions and creams.
-She likes going to the stone sauna and hot spring (onsen). She doesn’t have time to go to there lately, so she uses Kikiyu (a bathing powder) instead when she bathes at home.
-She likes long, pastel-colored and pink nails.
-She used to dislike the color pink, but after dressing in pink for Cutie Honey’s PV, she realized “it’s okay for Koda Kumi to wear pink”.

Thank you!! I have to say, I agree with what she's saying about the Japanese music scene. Too bad Japonesque won't be heard much outside of Japan.

hdu!!!! Everyday is FLAWLESS!!!! Don't you dare call my baby a filler.

Lay Down is so boring I can't even. Reminds me of Under. Pretty sexy beat, but it goes nowhere. I swear whenever I listen to Under it seems like 45 minutes pass by because it's so slow.
