Don't flame me for saying this, and I still love Ayu... But Utada has a much more powerful voice. I saw this performance, and I was blown away, her voice is perfect, all the way through this very hard song to sing!

utada has a strong voice, there is no doubt about that. but ayu has a sweet voice that carries a lot of emotion. so i think there is no competition between them. they are so different from each other.

Utada's voice is much better than Ayu's. Ayu just has such a huge fanbase thats all. Some of the BEST artists I know are least known, just because an artist is wideknown, dosent mean theyre the best, it just means they're popular thats all.

Beautiful performance. Her voice has much bigger range than Ayus.

I loved hearing this preformance from the mp3 rip. But Utada and Ayu are brilliant in their own rights, they are so different from each other, why do people continue to compare them to each other? There's really no connection between their styles.

I do agree with this preformance, it was awesome. and Utada does have a stronger voice than ayu at times while the same can be vice versa. But honestly I tend to not compare them together because their at different ends of the spectrum.

wow her voice was amazing! this IS a diff song to sing....the style is very Utada...Utada jus has this unique song style and plus her vocals create this 'fresh' feeling for me...Ayu is another powerful singer

Yeah, they kind of are in different categories, Ayu probably has a much larger fanbase, and I'd rather say I'm an Ayu-fan than a fan of Utada...But this performance was so good! And then when I see some of Ayu's performances, which are not good... Well, to say it this way, I still haven't seen a performance from Utada where here voice was really bad or out of tune..But from Ayu, I have seen quite a few... Nevertheless, she has had some awesome performances too
And even though her voice might not be as good as Utadas, her image and appearance is a true superstar. Utada is more of the shy type of person...As I see it

Yeah but the poster said it's the best. When taking the best vocals you can't judge on performance only especially since they tend to edit concert performances to make them sound better.

It's a really lovely live by Hikki, but I've always preferred the performance of Passion at Utada united '06.

wow that performance is great! I never liked utadas voice...sounds like a man (sorry) but that was excellent. I wouldnt compare ppls voices as everyone is different. Its true Ayu might not be able to sing certain songs utada can or can reach certain range but that works the other way around depending on how you think about it. Just dont say its obvious or whatever coz thats just your opinion.

Other people might not think so, but it's pretty obvious that her voice is better than Ayu's, objectively spoken... It's like saying that that Alaska is hotter than Hawaii... We all know it's not... Lol, bad example..But you get the idea

You have to remember that Hikki's mom was also like, one of the most famous singers in Japan until she married Hikki's dad.. :O

So it is most likely that Hikki probably got "help" from her mom vocally, whereas Ayu was just kind of like "yay I sing for fun, wait you want me to do music now?! o_o?!"

personally, i wouldn't really say that utada is THE best singer. in reality, no one can be THE best singer, cuz all artists have different voices and styles in music, which make them unique. utada was my first jpop artist, but now i don't really have that much interest in her. i loved her older music than what she's released now. but she does have a voice, and she can sing. i just wouldn't really call her the best, cuz there's other singers out there who can have much better voices then her. and that goes for every artist, really.
