J-Rock~Your Thoughts About It

this question had been bugging me for a while. How do you feel about j-rock? and what do other people react when they know you like jrock?

i knew there are people who feel disgusted about j-rock. i had heard horrible comments before like they are not really selling music, they are selling their images or how freaky/scary/ugly they look......
just yesterday, when i was at An Cafe site's, another staff saw it and actually thought they look like girls.....especially Bou. he thought Bou was soo cute! and bou is his type of girls. oh boy! but i did not tell him that bou is a male.
and another day when i brought my sister copy of SHOKK mag to read while waiting for the doctor, the aunties and uncles are actuall STARING at the magazine and ME? like i'm some sort of weirdos.......

though i had know j-rock before, but i did not bother to check out the songs. i only found them very cool and unique .
it was until recently when my sister was playing An Cafe's 'Smile Ichiban ii Onna' pv and i just watch behind her. i love the pv so much. Bou is so kawaii!
and i know 2 persons who loves jrock. one is a fan of gazette and alice nine and another loves gazette to hell. so now, i like Alice nine too! YAY! Shou!!!!!

but i'm not gonna care when people thought i'm weird, since i'm already weird and used to it. ha ha!

I like J-Rock but not the Visual Kei type. I like HIGH and MIGHTY COLOR, Shiina Ringo, Nana Kitade... All J-Rock artists that are non-Visual Kei are pratically normal looking. So nobody really reacts to it. Visual Kei is simply noise to me... + Weird hair and dressing style.

I really like gazette and alice nine. *_____* XXD Though people tell me Shou is a girl, I just go all ''He's not!!! Fine I'll never talk to you again'' for fun, and then they never call him a girl again, they respect my taste of music, and they like seeing pictures/performances and all that, but they'll never listen to it, I got used to see Jrockers like that and I really CAN'T see girls in them XXD

I love J-Rock, Visual Kei the most. My friends have got used to my obsession, especially since all I ever talk about is either Mana-sama or Moi dix Mois. I've even started to get one of my most trusted friends into it, and we'll sit there for hours talking about it.

I'm okay with it. I'm listening to songs by alice nine and nightmare. Sometimes it may sound noisy but I enjoy the music. But that's true. Some people around me find these visual kei bands weird and are thinking why they want to dress up in that way. But as for me, I'm fine with their dressings and make-ups. I think that's their style and image.

It depends really as I view JRock as a different genre to Visual Kei, but since VK seems to be the order of the day, i'll give my thoughts on it ^^.

Personally i used to really love it, but i did get some stick from kids in school etc... for listening to "Japanese cross dressers". Thing's don't differ much at home either with my brother and sister always picking problems with it.

I don't really listen to much VK anymore, mostly because i haven't heard much in the past year or so which really interested me at all. I like some of the older bands like Malice mizer, Schwarz Stein etc... and not to mention X Japan, though they're style changed over time to more of a usual rock look, except hide of course.

I like the whole image side to it though, i think it goes towards creating the genre, but it seems that some bands may rely too heavily on the image side of things, and musically fall into a generic state, wich tends to run through VK music in my opinion.

Still, if the music's good and the band has a good look etc... then there's absolutely nothing wrong with it as far as i'm concerned.

I love J-Rock. However, I do think that a lot of the current Visual bands are only in it for just that - the visual. I can't say that many visual bands I've heard these days are actually making memorable music.

i'm not so much into visual kei type of j-rock. i have listened to it, but i kinda grew out of it a while back. i guess my type of music just changed over time. but the j-rock i listen to nowadays would be Mr. Children, L'Arc~en~Ciel, & B'z. they just have really good music that i can listen to over & over again.

I listen to Mr.Children, Remioromen, Spitz, Porno Graffitti, Shiina Ringo/Tokyo Jihen, B'z and JUDY AND MARY. I only like soft, happy rock, Visual Kei makes my ears bleed, to be honest.

I don't like j-rock and I don't like j-pop either. I don't dislike them, but I just don't listen to them. Ayu is some kind of exception in my music taste.

So I can't answer to the question, how my friends react. Couple of my friends hates j-pop and j-music anyway, but it's pretty same for them, what I listen to.

I love Jrock!! Antic Cafe are good and I love NIGHTMARE - I usually just love normal Jrock - Gackt - HIGH and MIGHTY COLOR - UVERworld - BUCK-TICK - L'Aarc-en-Ciel and Miyavi which doesn't include that much visual-kei
However I love the Visual-kei style and how the bands dress up but I have to listen to more visual-kei influenced music to get a reaction from people

I don't really see any reason to be flat out disgusted by Jrock. I'm not a big fan of Rock in general, but most of the Jrock I've heard (granted, that isn't much) has been decent.

well, someone did ask me why they dressed like that too. i simply answered that 'because that's is cool and they are being unique!'
think the reason why i got attracted to j-rock is because i always hated being clones....i always like things that are different from others. and they to fit in that caterlodge
