I think if anything, the whole bodice Ayu is wearing? It's covered in rhinestones. Remember "part of Me"? How she got rhinestones all over her kimono? I think it may be the same situation.

And for all we know, the beginning scene's clothes could have all been designer (her glasses, the sweater).
