Japanese language is really interesting when it comes to coined words. ^^ Like hanabi or ningyou. Both have interesting imagery. Like seeing a doll as having the shape of a human being, but still only the shape, nothing else.

Question: Aren't humanshaped dolls suposed to have eyes, a mouth, ears, a nose etc???

Imagine a doll with no nose or ears! that would be hilarious!

Fireworks originated in Asia, specifically, China. They have always been a big part of Asian culture. That's why they are so much more relevant to many artists from that part of the world.

The 形 in 人形 might better be translated as "form", rather than "shape". The word "shape" in English generally coins the image of the silhouette or outside perimeter of an object, which isn't necessarily the case with the Japanese word. "Form" implies the dimensions and general appearance of something.

Maybe Hanabi (fireworks) are special in Japan?

Or maybe the artist just love to watch it?
Well, they do have Hanabi Festivals every summer

Oh, OK. I'm not a native English speaker... Thanks for explaining it. ^^
