Hmm, I'm going to partially agree here...I think her voice is best suited for up-beat fun songs; it's too smoky/raspy/deep/easily breakable (to me at least) for ballads, with a few exceptions.

And about the ugly thing: I personally don't like her haircut right now. The girl can take a decent picture, and she isn't ugly, but sometimes she does things that offset her beauty, such as that haircut or being too tan (4 hot wave cover, anyone? yikes), etc.

Sometimes she can pull off sexy flawlessly and other times she just tries too hard. Overall I just think she should be herself, like I think she was pre-BEST albums success. "COLOR OF SOUL" and other older songs really show the best side of her IMO, and I miss that kind of work because it showed actual heart and variety other than being the constant token sexbomb-turned-kawaii-schoolgirl-because-that's-all-she-can-do. Sorry guys, but I'd like to see her doing other things for a change...it seems like she's wasting her potential on being sexy.

I agree with you about the ballads things.
Kuu can't sing ballads (I only like Unmei and Tsuki to Taiyou), she just hasn't got the voice to that...

Okay, Kuu may be ugly (without make-up) but everyone you've never seen without make-up is ugly... but I guess you're talking 'with make-up'. Nobody is perfect!
Maybe other ppl here think Kuu is ugly, but what it's really about is her voice! and if she is a good singer.

And Kuu's style just is sexy. It's her choice to be sexy.
About the FREAKY cover, I think she finally knows what good covers are, if you look at the covers from 2000 to 2005 (my opinion)

Yeah, it kinda bothers me when she doesn't own up to her actions and such...it convinces me that she's not being herself. its kinda obvious how she doesn't want to have that sexy image...
she's said she doesn't liek it.. but she had to accept it cause its the recording company that made her do it..
back in the day her singles sold crap and everything, she could've been dropped..
you can tell she's got more control over her career now.. her image is more "KAWAII" and that's what she's like..

the recording companies can make you do anything.. they've got your career here..
If you want to challenge them, then you're putting your career at stake and any future careers too..
Look at Suzuki Ami, her career was tarnished because of the legal problems she had with Sony.. back in the day she was known as Ayu's rival..

I just don't understand why people don't like her. She's obviously a good singer if so many people are buying her music. Okay, so her image is a little more sex-symbol than Ayumi's but....what is the difference than the tendencies of other artists.

I realize her music doesn't suit everyone...so here's a suggestion to those people....don't ****ing listen to it. It's pretty simple unless you have the i.q. of a snail.

Kumi is far more successful than many artists that are out there right now and I believe she's just as respectable as such as any other artist is.

And as a side note...every artist is what their record label wants them to be. Her image has made her far richer/more successful than anyone who degrades her will ever be.

Sorry for the rant... it just pisses me off when people bash people as if they could do any better at what the person they're bashing is doing.
