What are we trying to prove here?

i may be wrong but my thoughts on the whole ayu and hikki difference is that it seems to me that hikki attracts a much broader, more loyal fanbase which will continue to buy her material...however, ayu, and especially her lyrics appeal to a younger age group who relate to the lyrics of her songs...this said, you can't really say that hikki or ayu are a better artist based on sales, they both appeal to differnt audiences and many of each of the artists' fans probably listen to both of them.

^on the 3 million awards thingy though on that survey it showed that mainly poeple between the ages 20~40 are listening to ayu the most (in Japan anyway) xD.

A BEST 2 sold over 1,400,000, like I didn't know it would.

thank you criminal!

I think that it's fair to say BOTH Hikki and Ayu are attracting new audiences. I mean, "Boku wa Kuma" surely wasn't directed to the 20~40 demographic, right? I think that Ayu is more of a Japanese Pop Culture Icon than Hikaru, so in that regard, I think that Ayu's got quite a large fanbase, but I think that more people in general want to buy Hikki's music.

A BEST 2's sales are quite good, and it looks like both will reach the 700K mark. It's done very well, yay.

I still believe she can sell over 2,000,000 until The november date which it changes to 2008 or is it December? On what date exactly the oricon year's changing?

imo for two albums they didn't get the highest promotion.
That makes no sense! Two CDs doesn't mean you have to promote twice as much. What AVEX could have done besides billboards, a billion TV appearences, booths, trucks, magazine covers, crazy marketing, etc? Nothing.

^And still the price of them is high up in the sky.

And I believe they could get more attension to both seperately but mainly it was A BEST 2 promotion and not for which of them...
For example take the CM of the album... they didn't do a CM for which, just one for both.
