Yes...but I think she was the only this year to release a 2 BEST album...but than OR did it and seemed, well, copy-ish (IMO).

I'm rather disappointed with t2m's sales, but at least it's made it past the 100,000 mark! Hopefully it can eventually reach as much as Bold & Delicious sold.

But that would be quite hard, considering that ayu don't have much staying power. Decrease in sales weekly is too significant XP

I also think Hikki has a more approachable personality than Ayu. Ayu is cute and sweet and very nice from what I've seen, but to be honest sometimes she's very ".....". I'd think it'd be easier to try and be friends with Hikki.

^Hmmmm....well I really think that people enjoy Hikki's music more than Ayu's....but I do think a lot more people love Ayu's performances than Hikki's. Which is I why I going to say, people prefer Hikki's studio stuff while people prefers Ayu's performances. (?)
Anyway, Ayu fell to #30!!!

I don't think it has anything to do with ages ranges, who's nicer and who performs better.
Of course people wouldn't like bad attitude people artists but it's not like fans actually looking to be their friends so as long as they don't have attitude I don't think people won't like them as persons. hikki succeeds more lately mainly because of that Drama tie-in that FoL was in and the good sales are reminisence from that, before that tie-in hikki sold 140,000 or less for a single so most likely, that HYD2 tie-in helped her a lot to get more popular for some time, it will fade soon, unless they'll find her another good tie-in. So would happen with ayu or any other artist. ayu and hikki are singers almost the same time (I think ayu started just 5 month before). won't, I think that their popularit really revolved around the same. The difference between hikki's latest album to ayu's album the was released around that time is just around 40,000 copies difference, it's really nothing big and I don't think that sales always indicate popularity, as the same amount of people know both artists and their both popularities are really high! They both go through ups and downs. Both will have their 10th anniversarsies on 2008! xD Last edited by ayumisrael; 18th October 2007 at 06:22 PM. |

Age ranges might have something to do with it though, if you appeal to a wider age group, then you have the possibility of selling more.

And it doesn't have anything to do with performing better? Am I misunderstanding this? Surely people would pay more money for a GOOD performance than waste their money on a bad performance. I know I would go to a good performance rather than a bad one. Some songs I don't like at first but I absolutely fall in love with after seeing it live (Bold & Delicious is an example). I bought the single right after seeing a few lives of it. Therefore, good performances are crucial in showing off one's abilities at both a singer and an entertainer. They do affect sales. And age range = more fans. More fans = more sales. While we're on the topic of sales here, I'd say that appealing to a wider age range means that you'll have more fans, meaning you'll sell more records, which is the issue at hand here. This is all IMO of course ^_^ Quote:
And I think Ayu could potentially sell int he 500,000+ range for singles if she had as good a tie-in, yeah.Don't get me wrong, I still think Ayu is a great person and artist and I personally prefer her over Hikki. But like some other people have said, there's just something about Hikki that will ensure her a stable fanbase.

And i love ayu more because her concerts are way more interesting than hikki's one. Hikki just stands there and sings and her outfits are like yeah
. Not like i hate hikki, she's cool but i like ayu's personality more XD!

I'm happy that it passed the 100k copies but I expected more... I think that this single is better than glitter :/

The low sales don't surprise me in the least. This single was just too different from her normal stuff. Sometimes a little change or variety is good, but in some cases in can be disastrous. Personally, I thought the single was awesome.

Now that I think about, isn't this Ayumi's secong time in a row that "experimental" stuff have caused her to have low-first week sales overall?
