Exactly, as much as it sounds harmless to us, who are not 35, it might seem harmless, but to Japan's people it's everything but that. There are many people who can't have children and many of them for some reason can't find someone to love and marry, and I guess she hurt their feelings and must take full responsability for what she has done, you become a star by selling cds, but if you don't learn how to behave and speak without thinking much, you won't stay one for too long.Personally I am kinda sad, cuz this might ruin her, and she didn't mean it, but oh well..

On September 29, 2007, Sawajiri showed up at the Closed Note movie premiere and was visibly upset. Many people perceived this as a 'bad attitude'. She answered questions she was asked with very short, impolite answers. The Japanese press treated this issue as a very big deal. On October 2, she posted an official apology on her website. She states that she regrets her attitude, and what she did was very unprofessional and she shouldn't have let her mood affect her job. A few days later she appeared on a TV Asahi's morning news show "Super Morning", and gave them an exclusive 120 minute interview. She said again that she was sorry for what she did, and she knew there was nothing she could do to change what happened, but she would try to make up for it. She also denied the rumors that she was being suspended by her management.

Following this issue, she was going to attend at 12th Pusan International Film Festival, which was held on October 6, 2007, but she announced she would not attend this.

What was later found out after the interview was that she had been seen in the club with a man who was said to be her lover.

She has been rumoured to not have anything in her 2008 schedule and that she is staying in United Kingdom for a year and take a break in the entertainment industry. Stardust Promotion have confirmed to replace her during that time period with an actress Kaho.

As on January 4, 2008 She and her lover Tsuyoshi Takashiro had been spotted at the Narita Airport checking in for a flight with destination London. She with a black coat and glasses, carrying a teddy and a camera has been in a visibly good mood. Her sour face since the stage greeting changed into a bright smile. She had been shaking hands with some of her fans. Reporters tried asking her questions about her future plans, but all she did was smile and continue on her way.

I agree. And rudeness in Japan is a lot different than rudeness in the west.

Granted, I can sort of see why older women would get offended by the rotten fluid part, but I think overall she probably just said something without thinking and unintentionally.

i'm worried about what will happen to her in the future. even after she return back her 'suspension', there's chances that some will still shun her away. It's sad thinking about it, since kuu don't mean it.

I think the remark was tacky, but one of those things you laugh about instead of making a huge deal about it. I wouldn't bring the words: "amniotic fluid" into a broadcast if I could help it, but that's just me.

I find what she said very rude and insensitive... I mean, I'm a girl and I'm 19 but still I was shoked by what she said... Whatever the fans can say, what she said was not "a scientific truth"... 35 + women do not have rotten amniotic fluid ! There are less chances of having a 100% healthy child but that has nothing to do with that... As a woman herself I can't understand how she could say that... In a few years she'll be 35 herself and she wouldn't be that happy if someone told her that something inside her was rotten...

Having said that, I think the scandal has been way too far... I mean, this has nothing to do with her music, so I don't see why she should have to stop her promotion... I just think she should appologize publicly ^^

Personally I'm not offended (probably wouldn't be even in the alternate universe where I'm 35 and wanting to conceive) and heck, my mother had me when she was 37 and we'd probably both laugh if somebody suggested I was grown in "rotten" fluid. Heck I'd jest, "No wonder I wanted out so bad!"

And while what she exactly said isn't truthful, the general premise is. I think her mind and her mouth just weren't matching wits that day, and now she's suffering because of it.

No offense to Koda fans here (and I'm also not trying to be an Ayu fangirl), but part of me is glad something screwed with Kingdom's sales. It's a very, very mediocre album compared to GUILTY, and if another female artist is going to take over Ayu's position as Japan's mega-seller, I want it to be someone comparable to her. I rather liked Black Cherry, but much of Kingdom is uninspiring and none of it shows us anything about the artist.

You bet there is. Like ayu announcing her deaf just to get people to pity her and some help for her decreasing album sales. That's a joke but maybe some truth in there too.
