1: Her strength: Not everyone could learn that they are deaf in one ear and want to carry on. Her strength and love of singing is amazing.

2: Individuality: In both her clothes and PVs nothing about Ayumi puts her in a corner. When you hear western singers and all they sing about is sex and money etc and dress all the same way Ayumi is a breath of fresh air.

3: Sense of humour/love for the fans: Ayu isn't afraid to make fun of herself, when she fell over on stage she laughed about it and then showed the footage the next night. She is a good sport and she obviously thinks very highly of her fans

4:Being childlike: Ayu has an openess about her, everything around her she wants to learn from. Everyone else seems jaded but she has genuine love for her work.

5:she never stops being Ayu: There are no sides to Ayumi. The face she shows you is her face. She is amazingly honest.

1) Songs and Lyrics: They are all unique to me, since most of them have a good arrangement/composition, and awesome lyrics! I love how I can relate to much of the things ayu writes about!
2)Her love for her fans: She's one of those few artists that actually do care about her fans, and gives her best for them!
3) How strong she is: I mean, she's one of those few people that actually can hold themselves together when facing hardships, like last year, poor ayu experienced a lot of bad stuff (her breakup, the passing of her friend, and her deafness in her left ear) yet she keeps on forward! I think its admirable how she can do all that! I might even say that very few of us would be able to keep on singing in such a short time if we had to experience that.
4) How honest she is: I think she's one of those genuine people that are always themselves, and I think she is a really wonderful person
5) Her lives: The way she's so involved in them, from the setup of the stage, to the choreography, everything! Its really nice to see how she creates everything in them, and I just loooooooooove the way she sings so emotionally in her concerts, it really shows that she writes with her heart.
For this and many other reasons, she's my favorite artist!

1. Her work ethic. No other entertainer from any country is as dedicated as her. Her career is so successful that she's almost become a corporation as opposed to an entertainer (the AYUPAN line of products alone is more than enough for that), and every aspect of "Ayu, Inc." is overseen by her. She takes her work very seriously and rarely lets anyone see any signs of weakness.

2. Despite the fact that she's a commercial artist with sales figures to maintain, I don't think she's ever recorded a song that she doesn't personally love. The fact that she writes her own lyrics is very important as well, since it means that every song represents her actual experiences. Those who have read the translations know that her songs actually have substance and often deal with complex ideas (IE "Duty," "I am...," "evolution," and "talkin' 2 myself"), which is extremely rare for an artist of her popularity level.

3. She gives her all at every concert and never resorts to lip-synching, even when she knows she doesn't sound very good (like at CDL 07-08). Her shows are engaging, emotional, and each one has its own unique feel.

4. I get the sense that, unlike some artists, she genuinely loves her fans. She looks most comfortable when in front of an audience, and I've never once read about her being mean to people at her concerts or during meet-and-greets. I used to really admire Bjork, for instance, but this year her behavior toward fans has been almost disgusting (yelling at them during concerts, ignoring them when they give her gifts, ETC). Ayu doesn't bite the hands that feed her.

5. I genuinely like her personality. She comes across as very intelligent and confident, but never humorless. She has a magnetic quality about her, and I think that's the secret behind her success. People (especially "type-A" women) relate to her and find her inspirational, and I have no reason to believe that her persona is all part of the act. She lacks the pretentiousness and self-righteousness of other megastars.

1) Her complete beauty- as in, inside and out, she is goregeous and beautiful. She has a kind heart, and the face to match it.

2) Her intelligence and honesty - Although she has to maintain that product Ayu, she always shows her true self through her lyrics. We see that she isn't a bubble-headed celebrity.

3) Her creativity - I've rarely ever been bored by anything from Ayu, because something about her is always fresh and unique, whether it be her fashion or her music.

4) Her commitment to her fans and her career - I think the fact that she produces so much all the time stems from a true and genuine love for her fans. It really makes me feel wonderful when I tell people I'm a fan of hers.

5) Her smile - Seeing it always brightens my day...literally. I have her 2008 calendar, and every morning when I look at it, I feel optimistic and happy.

So that's what I love about Ayu. She's a role model for me, and I respect her deeply.

In no particular order

1. Some may call this her diva attitude but imo it's one of the best things about her. I like that she's not afraid to be a perfectionist and not afraid to voice her opinions (even if she may piss off other people in the process), especially given that as a female artist it's very hard to gain control over your own career.

2. The diversity in her music

3. Her personal strength/passion and energy for her music and life in general.

4. Her fashion sense. Although a lot of stuff she wears can and will look ridiculous on other people she always pulls it off and makes a piece of clothing or an accessory her own.

5. I'm not a fan of the kawaii culture in Japan. However, Ayu's probably the only person whose kawaii-ness doesn't completely piss me off. I know a lot of people say that she's almost 30 and yet she still acts like a child/it seems so fake/she needs to grow up/whatever, and in some cases I agree because she overdoes it sometimes. But other times, it comes very natural to her and I find it very endearing for some reason.

1. Her optimism. She's always looking at things from such a bright point of view, and isn't afraid to dream big.
2. Her passionate, aggressive nature. She knows what she wants and how to get it. End of story.
3. Her commitment level. She gives her all to everything she does, and I respect that so much.
