recommendations for a female Russian artist?
before i say anything, Russia is part of Asia, therefore, Russian music is Asian music...
ive been in love with Origa for about 2.5 years now, and i figured it was time to expand into some other Russian music...im not one for male singers, so i would like some recommendations for some Russian female singers..here's my criteria
Yu'l notice that i reference Japanese singers a lot, but that's because i listen to many different styles, and those particular singer's do music that i am most interested in thanks so much for the recommendations! i love listening to a wider range of music... also, if anyone knows of any awesome Greek artists, i would love to get into them too, because i love the Greek language....the same criteria can pertain to the Greek artists |

for expirimental/ethnic , maybe you should try Sa Ding Ding. she's like the chinese björk. I believe if you can find an active download link in the downloads section for Sa Ding Ding's first international album "Alive".
for Greek , definitely Despina Vandi. just search her name in youtube for samples, tho you probably are familiar with her already. or Elena Paparizou / Antigue, they're were ethno-pop-dance. you might also want to check out Anggun, she's originally from indonesia or something. but she's had success in europe singing in french & english, her music is ethnic/pop/dance too |

Natali - Veter s Morya Dul = Greatest Russian singer and song imo.
This is pretty great as well, not a russian singer but russian song, I think lol. I also really like Alsou, she's amazing! Last edited by ..:Hot:Like:Wow:..; 29th February 2008 at 12:01 AM. |

Every Russian I've ever met has said they are European, not Asian.
Most of the suggestions above are pretty good; Ruslana is a Ukrainian singer with a good voice and fresh material, so you might want to check her out as well. |

i always though that there was a European part of Russia and an Asia part....i know that the population is densest in the European part, so that could explain why many of the people yu'v talked to say that theyre European....but i really dont know exactly....my stupid school doesnt teach us about ANY countries other than the US...seriously...
thanks for the recommendations! i'll definately do some looking into the artists tomorrow when i have time! btw, i didnt mean to cause all this talk about Russia...sorry about that |

Svetlana Loboda is really good.. she's not really ethnic or anything, but she has a good voice and is a lot of fun

Mishka If you wanna get more experimental and ethnic, the Ukrainian Ruslana is definately worth checking out as Kaiouforever said. She won the Eurovision Song Contest, which is the biggest TV event in the world with the song "Wild Dances". She incorporates traditional instruments into modern music which is cool.
