The official 1st week sales are not out yet...but based on the numbers by the multipler, I'm happy ayu got weekly #1. Alot of haters really want her to get #2...and since she's getting #1, they say stuff like 'avex magic' and all that crap. I believe its the last minute special extra goodies giveaway promotion avex's been doing for the last 2 days like they said on the official website...the weekend concerts, and the fact that its a weekend (which sales normally goes up anyways), contributed to the sales.

Does anybody feels like this single is getting more promotion than guilty? (except for tv performances and magazines) For guilty, it didn't feel like avex tried to get it to sell more compared to this single.

All of you guys are in denial seriously. Have you been paying attention to ayu's sales the whole week? A drastic rising from 4k to 12k is anything but a miracle <~(please stop using mirrorcle. It's so cheesy and lame. Thank you!). AVEX has used it's magic for years on Ayumi.

Well, why didn't "it" get GUILTY at #1, you ask? In case you have forgotten, GUILTY was #1 for a week but it had to be combined with its second week because Oricon rules or w/e. In it's second week of charting, it sells were higher than its 1st week sales.....BUT it wasn't enough to beat Kobupower. Nothing can stand against the Kobupower not even the JE magic (album-wise). AVEX used all of their magic as they could but it wasn't enough to beat Kobupower! So stop asking why AVEX didn't use their magic to get #1.

As for UtadaxAyumi popularity thing, I believe that Ayumi is popular than Hikki in Asia (not by a larger margin though) but worldwide scale it's Utada. People might refer to her as Utada but as "the gurl who sang the song on Kingdom Hearts."

I can argue about this with GUILTY as well. Why didn't avex put up special stuff during her countdown live? There were 2 nights for that and I'm sure if they give out megasize poster + GUILTY mirror + 2 clear files blah blah blah, She would have a huge boost as well on 30th and 31st. But avex didn't do anything. Taking those boost into account I'm sure GUILTY would get no. 1 in the end. You can't say avex didn't do anything.

Anyway two things I find weird in today's index

1) ayu's mega huge boost. I really wonder what's happening with that 17K index.. I was hoping that she didn't drop back to 10K... and all of the sudden the difference between Sat and Sun is 4K... Rare in oricon sales pattern.

2) SCS's index. Again Sat and Sun indexes should be closer than this. I woner why they dropped to 13K...

This week's sales are so abnormal to me..

I think... GUILTY's second week sales is lower than first week actually. Some online place posted that GUILTY first week sales was 280K. The combined sales for 1+2 weeks were 430K, so that means the 2nd week sales was ~150K. Again. 5296's combined sales were 450K... So if avex did something special, GUILTY should have beaten 5296 in the end. The thing is, we didn't hear any megaposter/mirror/clear files... we only heard special prize draws. avex should terminated the draws and just gave out those prizes with first come first serve...I dun think it would be hard to gain another 20K in the end..

^Well Oricon stopped reporting until like 3 days before the whole week ended. avex wouldn't have known whether or not Kobukuro was beating Ayu in the first place until the very end (compared to now when Shuchishin's single started selling out everywhere....) They probably thought GUILTY was selling well enough to beat Kobukuro (and without any numbers) they didn't do anything.

I thought her 1st week sales of GUILTY was 202K and then her second week sales was 225k or something like that? Either case, Avex did all they could to save that #1 album streak but Kobupower was too much for them. Also, that clear file tactic and other stuff like that saved MW ass was clearly a new and desperate idea. If MW wasn't struggling against Shu(?), they wouldn't have used it.

Edit: I gottcha ayu_fan! eheheheheh I guess you believe in the AVEX magic as well. So AVEX did think she would have beaten them. lol

Just like, oricon doesn't post the indexes for rankings below top 3. Natsu Style could still give you the top 10 indexes. Music companies must have a way to get access with sales. It's not like they're doing a midterm and they dunno the result until the teacher (oricon) hands back the midterm..

If avex gave out free posters for guilty like mirrorcle world (with 2 different versions), I would of bought 2 copies instead of just 1....that applies to secret as well. I love how mirrorcle world, you get 2 different posters if you buy both the dvd versions. Buying posters seperately is not worth it for me but if the album came with a free poster, I rather spend extra, (which will end up more expensive to just get the poster) to get the other cd version.

no I remember first week sales were higher than the 'second' week's...its been like that for her other albums. I don't think avex did all they could to save the #1 album streak...its very obvious if you compare it to mirrorcle world's promotional giveaways. For guilty, you have to freakin enter the stupid draw in order to have a chance to get the goodies...whereas for this single, you just have to buy it and you'll get it for free. I do have to agree if it wasn't for the close sales between the other boyband, avex wouldn't of done the giveaway at the end of the week.

Oh please. You're just moaning because all week you've been whining about how "Ayumi is gonna lose her streak" and now that she's number 1 again, you're just being sour because you were proven wrong. I also think someones a little miffed because they don't like Mirrorcle World or Ayumi anymore and wanted it to get to #2 because of that, and that's absolutely fine by me. You don't have to like Ayumi. However going on about how avex pulls all these tricks, Ayu doesn't desrve the #1 and blablabla is just disrespectful to the forum. Go and do that elsewhere. I'm not going to go any further because I like you.

Umm Oricon was on holiday during the Xmas period, meaning their office closed. If there was access to numbers during that period, I'm pretty sure 2ch users would have somehow gotten hold of it. And Natsustyle's indexes below the top 3 are self-calculated. (The person had a whole entry of how he calculates the indexes below top 3 last year)

Not by a large margin?! She's clearly the most well known Japanese musician in Asia. (finally some official proof.. <3 )

I'm not surprised about the chart... but I'm a bit surprised that hikki is still that popular in China. She practically didn't do any promotion at all outside Japan...

You must be thinkin' of someone else becoz I never said that Ayumi didn't deserve #1 spot. Yea, I admit that i did want her to lose her streak though....but if that happened.....i would've hated for the outcome of her fans. *thinks of dozens of ayu fans jumping of bridges to their death* Anyway, I don't dislike Ayumi and I didn't even know that being against her this one time was disrespecting her...and her fans. I see comedy in all of this though. Even though we have to different opinions, I really believe that you guys shouldn't doubt the AVEX M-A-G-I-C!

@MAXKER: That's for China not Asia. I don't like charts like those because you can't whether or not if they are the truth just like you can't tell whether or not Oricon polls are correct. I'm not biased. I happen to luv them both but I'll choose Hikki over Ayu any day because I'm more into Hikki then Ayu but I'm not quick to deny that Ayu is popular then Hikki in some parts of Asia espcailly giving the fact that Hikki hasn't performed outside of Japan and Asian fans prolly only know her becoz of First Love and several other tie-ins that are well known throughout Asia. Like I said, it's prolly not true. We'll never know.

Some 2ch users are subscribers to Oricon. 2ch is like one of the first places to get any Oricon numbers.

avex might have a method, but ultimately it's how Oricon calculates the numbers and not avex.

She did promote ULTRA BLUE in Hong Kong,Taiwan and China, posters, billboards ect. I remember some pictures from the local CD-shops + Heavy TV advertising.

your bias is showing

a drastic rise on weekind is not ~magic~, it's the day most people in japan have off & they go shopping or whatever. I bet lot of people wanting to buy the single had no chance to buy it earlier than saturday (everybody who is in school has half the day off) or sunday (the only free day for majority of japanese).

and it's just plain silly to think that Avex would risk Ayu's credibility by fiddling with the charts. especially now since the legendary streak was lost ages ago on singles with Daybreak and now with albums on GUILTY.

I agree with Ayu being the most popular. she caused a frenzy both in China & Taiwan when on her visit. There was even a bunch of fans camped out of her hotel halfway around the world in France.

This forum is widely diverse with different artists. You have ayu fans who are slowly but surely getting bored of her on here and might have a disliking of her at times.
