I get the feeling a hit song will do far more for his popularity - he should work on that instead. I don't know how great his current English songs are, but I do know that some random rappers being featured in them aren't going to make them better.

I'll wait another month or two then. It's good that he's in talks with record companies, I suppose.
Seriously, I mean who is really going to listen to him just because he's worked with Amerie and Three 6 Mafia? He just needs hot music released NOW!

Amerie and 3 6 Mafia? That's all?! O_o I wouldn't call that a huge achievement or key to he's debut here. If you ask me, those two a B-artists. Every since they've won an Oscar, 3 6 Mafia popularity has decresed. After her release of 1 Thing, Ameria it the crapper as well. =/ I think Se7en should have worked with Jermaine Dupri. Se7en looks like he would work with him anyway.

I don't know - didn't Dupri work on Janet Jackson's 20 Y. O. album? The music seemed bland, although I think he's also responsible for The Emancipation of Mimi, so who knows?

The most popular producer right now is Timbaland, and while I'm sure they've got great potential together, Utada didn't achieve great results, sales-wise (but maybe that was a promotion issue). Regardless of producer, the song just needs to be good. If that means sampling from one of his Korean songs, so be it.

^I definitely give him credit for putting Mariah back into the spotlight. I really want the same thing that happened to her to happen to him (and Rain. ). Se7en has a really nice voice that I think can fit the mood of Jermaine's beats. I think Se7en would really well with Ne-yo too. Ne-yo is a hot producer and lyricist. Se7en needs to hooking up with him...if not then Rain at the most. =/ I just need one of my Korean hotties to work with producers that aren't full of themselves (P. Diddy) and crappy.

SE7EN should work with Jermaine. Or whoever does Usher's stuff. NOT TIMBALAND FOR THE LOVE OF GOD.

Darkchild is a pretty great producer. He's done a lot of thing from Britney Spears to the Spice Girls, so it's a really nice thing that SE7EN got him. But I guess I kind of understand the thing about too many collabs, but it is a good strategy. Just because he puts a single out doesn't mean people will listen to it. He's virtually unknown here so they need to give him some exposure so putting him with popular artists is a good idea to me. And I wonder who this Latin singer is? And what the show is too. And Three Six is definitely still really popular, Shanny. Amerie? Nooot so much.

Part of being a fan is the torturous thing called "waiting" x_x... But unlike previous reports of his American Debut, this one looks like it's actually turning into something. Maybe we WILL have an album this year =D

I think if his album was to come out this summer, there would've already been a single release? So maybe after everything is settled with a record company, maybe his album'll drop this fall?

^They do, but with the first promotional single, I believe that's the one that comes out first.

Ooooh o_o I totally didn't know that. I need to pay more attention to the music in my own country...

How long before the album is a promo single usually released?

Er - I remember Ashlee Simpson released Outta My Head in December-ish and then Bittersweet World came out in April. I think it varies.

His English pronunciation in songs is probably good (if he speaks well enough, he should sing even better), so my strategy would be to release a super-catchy song on the radio and make listeners wonder who he is. Or he can perform at a highly-publicized event. Regardless, I think it'd be good if he took America by surprise as opposed to a ridiculously hyped debut. Hype can go both ways, but surprise can only help him and not hurt him.

Wow you didn't know that artists release their first single before the album? Where have you been? Just kidding. But it's usually between 2 - 4 months before the album. Releasing the album too early can cause low sales because people haven't heard the lead single enough, and releasing it too late can too because people don't care anymore about the lead single anymore.

Just curious what are people's favorite songs from Must Listen (Album #2)?

My favorites were 열정(Passion), 2NITE, and Wishy Washy

Those three are my favorites too. I thought Merry Christmas was an odd choice of an album track (was the album released on/near Christmas?), but overall, the album was very good. There were no bad songs, only really good songs.

MUST LISTEN was a really good album, but 24/SE7EN is his best, IMO.

"Girlfriend", "Again" "La La La", "Can U Feel Me?" were all so good... I really felt like if he had released that album in English, it would've been a smash hit wonder.
