I think it's adorable the students want to do the dance from INSPIRE. XD Seriously, I wouldn't be able to stand (literally) watching it because I might die from the cuteness.

Aoyama Thelma was really popular up until her CD came out, and then they kinda stopped talking about her.. I don't know why. Oh, and Hikki has a loyal following (kinda funny because she's been around longer than Ayu - but I guess she is younger).
I'm glad to see that my 3 most favorite artists are really popular among them (ayu, kumi, hikki).

I'm really looking forward to see the students dance the INSPIRE dance!
It's totally awesome!

(btw hikki debuted 8 months after ayu so ayu is almost a year longer than hikki XD).

Haha. When I was in Japan my host sister (who was 7) had no idea who Ayu was! And the other little kids all responded, (boys) "she's old!" or (girls) "I don't like her cuz she's dated a really handsome guy!" But that was back before they broke up. :/

Shes just less popular in Japan now. Even though her popularity in Japan is decreasing, her popularity in other Asian countries is increasing so it sort of cancels each other out. The washed up or too old thing is just hater talk

Exactly
Though I have to add that even if her popularity in Japan decreased she's still popular even in Japan, of course again not as she used to.

It's always nice to hear what's really going on.. sales figures and stuff only give some impressions, but not the whole thing.

28-29 years old is old to you?

Seriously, it must be because of different cultures or something. From what I gather, Japan seems to think that people are old geezers when they hit 30. Or is this just with the music scene?

I mean, look at Madonna. She's 50, and yet no one really says "omg she's old". ****** is still alive and kickin' it more than a lot of 30 year olds I know. Age is just a number. People that take care of themselves can be healthier than someone 10 years younger than them.

Also, I'm curious. What do they think of Namie? Is she old to them too?

Yep, it's not only in the music world. Once you hit 30 (or have a child), you're considered an "obasan" (old woman) in Japan.

I'm pretty happy that Ayu's still a favourite among Japanese youngsters!!!

So Namie Amuro got her child when she was 21 (?) .... she was considered as an old woman?

Wow....

Heh I hear friends here in the US say hitting 20 is "old". You're not old until you hit 80 or 90...and then it's elderly. Being old is an attitude.

Ah that would be so cool to see the festival!

And she certainly aint washed up.
True. She doesn't even look like she's 30. Whenever i show an ayu video to my friends, they think she's 21 or sth.

@lfebaggins: i totally agree with u
