I think it also depends on luck too . At 1st when I started my JPop journey 2 years ago , I 1st was listening to female solo acts .

my younger sister said that I was so boring & urged me to try some male singers so late last year , I tried out abingdon boys school & then this year Ken Hirai .

JE knocked on my door around late May or so & since then I have been constantly expanding my Jpop list to include even more male & female acts/bands .

Try to diverse Austin , it never hurts , it will keep you from getting bored . It's the same if you keep listening to the same songs over & over again on repeat
