Why is it that some artists (or those in charge to promote them), sometimes mess up big time? This time I am talking about visuals. I know everybody has different tastes, but there are some case where you say WTH??? Let's take a look at an example:
Hayami Kishimoto: JUICY ![]() LOVE DROPS ![]() Honestly, which one would you buy based on the cover picture alone? Yes, LOVE DROPS of course! Let's take a look at another example, shall we? The first promo picture I saw of alan, was this abomination: ![]() Why? WHY??? Why do that to her, specially if she can look as gorgeous as this: ![]() This is not a topic about how shallow we are, but let's admit we all like beauty, so let's take a look at this as a discussion about beauty instead of turning it into a "Looks don't matter, what's inside is what counts" (cause that's the truth, but let's go wild with this, ok?) So, opinions?

It seems to me that when a singer first debuts they are trying not to offend anyone so they keep the picture clean. It's only later that some singers take that edge or more risky look into it. Leah Dizon keeps getting edgier with each cover. Ayumi H did the same thing.(LOVEppears) Some don't like Angela Aki.
Beauty is important to a singer. How many times has someone said that Stephanie looks ugly? Did that impact their decision to listen? I've never decided who I'm going to like because they look ugly. If their voice is ugly, that is a different matter. Though I'm guessing if the singer was scary looking, I would never listen to their music. There's plain ugly and then there's AHHHHHH! ugly. I don't think anyone would want to listen to AHHHHH! ugly's song, no matter how pretty the voice. I wouldn't stick around to hear the voice. |
