MW is kinda a promotional exception with all the stuff they did for that lol. More TV performances would have probably helped, though..
What I'd love for Ayu to do is some kind of unique promotional event, like U2 does (but then they say they do it for the 'good of mankind' lol). Like, setting up a stage on a Bold & Delicious PV-styled van, and driving around a Japanese city while singing her song a couple of times lol. Or signing sessions! Does she ever even have those? I'm sure they're possible, with enough security..
