Not always. Hikki's Single Collection sold less than her first 3 studio albums.
AC ~AS~ already surpassed GUILTY and it will surpass Secret by tomorrow or two more days.
It also has a chance to surpass (miss)understood (because it has higher 2 first weeks).

You could always just check the oricon website daily. I'm glad sales went up. 120k for 2nd week! So (m)u sold 80k in its 3rd (also 2nd oricon) week? Think it's a tall order for A Complete to sell that amount this week.

A very nice 2nd week for Ayu. I think it'll prolly get 125k once the multipler is corrected. She'll prolly have a nice 3rd week as well.

That's true. I think it prolly sold less was because majority of her fans already owned the singles or albums and prolly brought it as a collection item. Just a theroy tho.

That's because Hikki doesn't have as many singles or albums as them. =/ She only has 21 singles and 5 japanese albums. They have almost twice as much as her. Not saying that even if she did have as much as them, she'd outsell them but I'm just saying that you have to look at it that way as well.

That's because Hikki doesn't have as many singles or albums as them. =/ She only has 21 singles and 5 japanese albums. They have almost twice as much as her. Not saying that even if she did have as much as them, she'd outsell them but I'm just saying that you have to look at it that way as well.

but their sales is constantly and never sold so low. it didnt happen to hikki. her both singles could not reach 100K

Hiki's sales are just odd. :3 IMO it's because I don't think she / her record company cares that much about her singles reaching #1 all the time. Like avex usually releases in 'clever weeks' (GUILTY and Mirrorcle World being kinda stupid, but w/e o_O) and using 'avex magic' if it isn't going to get #1. Then by doing all these kind of little bonusses for pre-ordering, the first week / first few days sales are HIGH, but then it drops quickly because all those people pre-ordered. I could be wrong though LOL.

I wonder what would happen to Hikki's sales if she would sell an album every year.

Utada Hikaru is known for relatively outstanding album sales. The thing about her compilation album is that physical sales of albums were already on quite a decline by that particular year, so while she couldn't match the sales of her studio albums (like anything could top First Love at this point), she did well compared to other artists in the market, thus matching her reputation.

I would hate it if Utada Hikaru released an album a year. It works for Ayumi because Ayumi is just special like that, but for Utada Hikaru, time is needed to create good final product. Plus, her music style evolves with each album, and she needs time for that too.

Actually since when are the sales of this album higher than the first two weeks of m(u)? According to Wikipedia the (m)u sales for the first week was already 653,830, which is higher than this.

(miss)understood was released at the beginning of the year which means 1st week+2nd week combined because that's how oricon goes while they take a week rest in the beginning of the year. Therefore it's 653,830 in two weeks (perhaps on the 1st it sold around 500,000).
AC sold more in 2 weeks (660,000 already) so that's where it's from.

Ah, I didn't realize m(u) was released like GUILTY. That makes the sales a lot better, and also solves the mystery as to why m(u) sold so much more than MY STORY. XD

It's good enough it's selling without promotion. That means if Ayumi does promotion (which she'll probably do sooner or later), A COMPLETE ~ALL SINGLES~ will sell even more.
