(miss)understood cover
I don´t own (miss)understood album, but every picture I find of the cover has the same "grainy" effect to it, and I´m not sure if the actual cover has it or its just that the scanned pictures of it are low quality? It seems weird to me that they added that grainy effect to it (well for artistic reasons?) because I´ve never seen that in any other album yet. Just wondering ^^ I love the cover anyway (ugh except the one with the HUGE smile xD)

I think it's the photographer who shot the pics & he/she's probably not good at what he/she's doing which explains the somewhat blurry pics & the cd only cover's OK to me , I just don't understand why some people really hate it like their life depends on it

Me neither Karen. I happen to like the smile. People bash it so much because the smile looks forced but thas what I find really cute about it. I mean, whos taken pictures with the photographer saying "cmonnnn you have to smile or else im not taking the photo!" and you force one up?

its just as grainy on the actual cd! i think the original photos were full body shots and they zoomed in to her face so closely so it came out so gross and grainy

I think that's sort of the point. It's grainy and blurry, and you can't see her clearly, so she's misunderstood! Does that make sense?

The scratchiness looks to me to be very unnatural, it almost looks like it was added via a filter or in photoshop. But while we're on the topic, Mika Noguchi is a (part-time, but still) professional photographer as well who knows very well what she's doing. One look at her blog can tell you that, every photo she takes for it looks spectacular for a candid. She also shot the "Trust Me" wacoal photos.

To me, all of the distortion looks natural, especially if you look at the area at her left cheekbone where her hair is. Spoiler:
Looking at the booklet, the pictures don't really strike me as that good, as if by a professional photographer, but ok. I was surprised when the behind the scenes of the Trust Me campaign came out and you could see Mika with a professional camera. |

Actually, I think the grainy effect was intentional. Like, part of the theme to it and stuff...

of course it was intentional.... they would not have released the photobook with a failure...

I like the grainy effect of the cover and the blurryness of the photos in the booklet... You can tell it was taken by someone who is close to Ayu because they look personal. Kind of like, "Wait! Don't move, let me get this shot."

maybe they wanted to give the pics an intime & personal look, not professional ones but photos a friend would take on a trip...

The grainy look was probably intentional. Filmstock is grainy like that, when a photo isn't grainy that means its been tampered.

I really think the blurry effects were intentional, the booklet is meant to give a look at ayu's "personal life" (not her REAL life of course, but you get the idea). Since you can see her eating, drinking, laughing, walking her dogs, writing lyrics, and sleeping next to her kumachan-lookalike
