Well....my opinion is....why should she not be somewhat sucessful with this song? First of all, looking beyond the "un-hikki-japaneseness" that people keep complaining about, its a very nice sounding ballad. As long as radios play it and she gets the right amount of exposure, it should become atleast somewhat noticed. Sure, its not Flavor of Life but its catchy, it sticks, and the with the right steps, this could be a possible hit for Utada as an U.S artist not Utada Hikaru the Japanese artist. Its best to keep those two personas seperate because at the end of the day, she does pretty different things as each. While I do not see hikki achieving the recognition she deserves in the US anytime soon, I'm confident that she will get there.

Sure Hikki has been present in the US for the past four years, but did she do a thing after EXODUS was released, 3 flop singles which received almost no promotion and a couple of interviews oh and she had a mini showcase in NY and after that no one heard a thing about her! Just telling people that your albums sold like crazy in Japan won't make people listen to them, and I am sorry but I doubt Hikki can pull out a miracle and become popular in the states with just one song (espec. this one), BoA said it herself that she doesn't expect to get famous there right away and that she intends to keep releasing videos and promote them as much as she can until it happens. It seems that Hikaru thinks that she just needs to release an album (in the end she is prolly too lazy to lift a finger). and let's get real the album is only gonna sell well in Japan so why not make all the songs sound like your jpop ones, but in english. But everything's possible she might get really big with this "thing" XD We should all just Wait & See~

Well, it depends on what the next single will be like. Quite honestly, even she sticks to doing more "mainstream" or "usual", I wouldn't be surprised if she does only a little better than the last time.
Personally, if she continues this generic crap, then I'l keep my $20 and spend it on something more worthy.

okay I just heard Come back to Me (so late hee hee XD!) I Thought it was ok although I think it's missing a hook..... like something that grabs your attention. It just seemed too generic ~ Like I know people say american music is generic but it usually has something that captures your attention like RIGHT AWAY! This song is good though and I'm sure it will can do decently on the billboards but I don't think it won't be a chart topper sadly T^T ~!

It's got nothing to do with it being a slow pace/r&b song. It's got everything to do with the fact that the song sounds like atleast 10 songs from Mariah Carey, straight down to the vocals, mixing, instrumentals, everything. They don't have to be in same key to be similar.
