If Ayu's new single and a Johnny's group were to come out on the same Wednesday, it's really hard to say who deserves #1 really. They've both been getting so many strings of #1's that you have to pose the question: "What about all those other artists who've been just as deserving of it but could not get it due to their lack of reputation/fame?" If by some strange phenomenon Ayu doesn't get #1 on that 25th but gets #2 even without Johnny's group releases, ending her streak since Free & Easy, I don't think it'll say much about how kickass this single will be xD.

if you look at it this way , all along , Johnny's bands always can rank up massive sales (especially with Beautiful days ranking up over 350K+ in the 1st week with just 2 editions) when comes to their singles & not their albums simply because of a few reasons

fangirls are 'poor' in general , they only can shell out a certain amount of $ to buy singles & they have no problems doing so even when comes to x editions of singles as it's 'cheap' by Japanese standards .

In the case of an album , it's almost 3-4 x more expensive than an album & somemore Johnny & Associates doesn't seem to have huge promo when comes to album campaign rather than a single campaign .

In fact in recent times , the most amount of an album sold substaintially was KAT-TUN's 1st album Best of KAT-TUN which moved almost 750K which happened 3 years ago . That was the period of time when they finally managed to debut after a 5 year long wait but after that , their album sales really suffered which sucks especially with the album of 2008 , KAT-TUN III -QUEEN OF PIRATES-

& speaking of a non Johnny's band going up against a Johnny's band , in 2 weeks's time , GReeeeN's going up against the mother of all KinKi Kids

Actually, everything is doing poorly.
So its amazing Ayumi Hamasaki can stay this popular, even if she had highs and lows, during 10 years.
The people who hate her are the minorities~
She is still one of the most popular, if not most popular women singers~
I dont think we have to worry about #1 streaks, or this or that.

I don't know it's hard to say . GReeeeN will be clashing heads on with another Johnny's band , they went up against NEWS & just last month KAT-TUN & this time round it's both groups's seniors KinKi Kids

it's daring on Universal to ask GReeeeN to go up against KinKi Kids as for a duo to have a perfect record consecutive streak of 27 #1 hits since their debut Glass no Shounen , it's no mean feat at all

It'll be interesting to see when 28th Jan comes

Arashi? that's some hefty competition there. in fact, it wouldn't even be one. she'll get #2 without a doubt! she would need to break 350k first week to be a threat).

and yeah, that Arashi release date is a RUMOR. nothing's set in stone.

it's practically gone case if she go up against any Johnny's bands that're under Johnny's Entertainment , J-One/JStorm , period

TOKIO , Tackey & Tsubasa , V6 are not that much of a threat although last year TOKIO made the switch from Universal to JStorm , that's a different issue altogether
