haha

Tegoshi doesn't strike me as someone who will do that , I still sees him a bit girlie at this point in time

then again I'm not the only 1 who said that , KAT-TUN's Tanaka did when he appeared at Shounen Club Premium last year

People who drink and don't know when to stop shouldn't be allowed to work as public figures/entertainers as that will totally send the wrong massage. So I think he is pretty much getting what he asked for.

On a side note, I wouldn't mind seeing Yamapi or Shige running naked in the park near my back yard ^_^
I think his treatment is way to harsh. Especially considering how hypocritical it is. I mean what salary man in Japan hasn't gotten drunk and naked at some point? Would you apply that same statement to Ayu who is also known to be a heavy drinker and in the past has had pictures of her being helped to walk outside of a bar? If Ayu didn't have her loads of staff around her at all times, whose to say she wouldn't have had a naked run around in the park by now?
As for Erika, His treatment right now is way worse than what ERIKA had (and he is much more famous than her so I don't really think the situations are that comparable) and as much as I like ERIKA, a lot of people have said she has a bad attitude and is difficult to work with - who would blame people then for not wanting to work with her? Whereas this is the only thing Tsuyoshi has pretty much ever done wrong. The punishment so far is definitely not fitting the crime, such as a Japanese politician calling him "the worst human being ever." I'm sure that politician has done far worse things...

^ yes I would absolutely apply the same to Ayu. That politician is over-reacting, I don't mind him running naked in the street, really, if that's what he likes, then by all means he should do it, but that's Japan we're talking about, he has certain responsabilities that come with proffesion and considering how long he's been doing his job he should've known better. I am sorry I will never understand people who get drunk cuz they're miserable. There is really no good excuse imo. Would you really like a CM featuring someone who seems to be having a drinking problem?

Ayu at least seems to be careful about what and where she is doing stuff

I agree with you, that I also don't like the behavior. But I also think that at least in this case, it seems to be a major over reaction. The thing is, in Japan its really part of the culture to drink - no matter what your profession is. People don't necessarily drink out of unhappiness there, but rather out of social obligation. If they are going to get this up in arms about drunken behavior, then they shouldn't create a culture where going out to drink (and usually drink heavily) after work is the norm and acceptable behavior - its just way to hypocritical to me. I can't count the number of drunk salarymen I've had clumsily hit on me in broken english, lol. Why couldn't it have been a drunk SMAP member instead?

I think Japan is overreacting as well, but Japan and I may see this differently because of cultural differences. Despite the custom to drink after work, it may be unacceptable to get so drunk that you expose yourself in public. Maybe Japan thinks public exposure is a great misdeed. I don't really know. I thought Japan overreacted when the Koda Kumi incident happened, and I thought that what she said wasn't that big of a deal. But I guess due to cultural differences, Japan saw it differently.

I'm a bit ambivalent toward this incident. It's kinda amusing, but it's also kinda sad to see that Tsuyoshi basically tarnished his career with this one mistake. In my opinion, he doesn't deserve all the scorn and criticism he's getting at the moment. Sure, he's an idol and therefore should behave well; I agree that his behavior wasn't right. But it's nothing worth getting so angry about. I hope Japan will soon forgive him and that they won't hold this incident against him for too long.

New article from Tokyograph:

Quote:
No indictment for Kusanagi, quick return expected

Tokyo prosecutors have reached a decision to not indict SMAP member Tsuyoshi Kusanagi. The conclusion came only eight days after Kusanagi was arrested for public indecency, when he was drunk and naked late at night in Hinokicho Park near Tokyo Midtown.

Prosecutors based the decision on the fact that Kusanagi exhibited remorse and had no prior offenses on record. The crime itself was one that normally does not result in arrest, but police had arrested Kusanagi after he resisted and refused to put his clothes back on.

Kusanagi has mostly remained at home since his release on April 24. He, his management, and other SMAP members have offered multiple public apologies. Although there have been lots of negative reactions among the press, politicians, and his corporate sponsors, his fans have largely been supportive, with one survey demonstrating that 92% of the public was sympathetic.

Following the incident, Kusanagi was quickly pulled from advertisements and his regular TV roles. According to his management at Johnny's Jimusho, Kusanagi will likely be coming back quickly based on the positive fan response. A decision will be made after discussions with all concerned parties, though no specific timeline has been set.

In particular, it has been stated that Takashi Yamazaki's movie "Ballad: Namonaki Koi no Uta," which stars Kusanagi and Yui Aragaki, will be released on September 5 as planned. PR for the film has currently been halted, but it appears that Kusanagi will soon be able to resume promotional activities.

the local newpaper in my country reported about the after effects of Kusangai today

at least Johnny-san will not be taking serious actions against him & even the Japanese public themselves said that they're too hard/harsh against Kusangai for committing this 1 off set action

It's weird that it happened now though - the scandal has been out for over a week...

Maybe this was actually some kind of concerted effort by fans to say that they want SMAP and Tsuyoshi to continue.

"Television stations reported the arrest by flashing bulletins usually reserved for earthquakes and other major events, while television helicopters filmed the park from the air after sunrise."

That part was major lulz. XD
