Update: From TeamAyu:
"According to some news organizations, there was an recent event which included Ayumi Hamasaki in a negative way. However, Ayumi Hamasaki was not involved in the planning and managment of the event, and will not be prosecuted for the incident. We regret the concern caused to all the fans of Ayumi Hamasaki, we urge you to understand this situation." - The office of Team Ayu. This is the main issue in Japanese media today! At this event, the book "Ayu Diary of DEJIDEJI 2000-2009A" (Kodansha) was promoted. To commemorate the launch of the book in front of the "109" building, without notice, Hamasaki appeared in front of nearly 8,000 people and fans making a huge fuss. Also, shortly before the book lanch event, Hamasaki visited TSUTAYA, HMV, Tower Records and other large CD stores in the area. In a surprise of this event, crazy energized fans were going to chase Hamasaki from shop to shop, which led to wild conditions in the streets. According to Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, Hamasaki did not get permission to use the roads in the area, and is now being investigated for violating the Road Traffic Law in the metropol. According to Japanese law, the penalty for this type of offenses are fines and in the worst case, prison sentence. Passages of buses and other modes of transport had to stop for a time. Fans tear down the stage, the stage and the sidewalk into the fence have been knocked down, and the scene was very chaotic and frightening for random bypassers, including several children. As a result of this, Hamasaki was asked by reporters from the magazine "FRIDAY" in connection with the accusation. Sunday, she attended a event held in Tokyo, but was surprised by the prosecution against her. "I thought this issue was cleared in advance", while she smiles watching her staff. "In Shibuya? Heehaw. I should be allowed to move where I want, without having to submit an application specifically for this," she said, smiling. ---------------------------------------------------------- Ayu didn't obtain permission for April PR event Fri, May 22, 2009 (4:21am EDT) Police are currently investigating a publicity event held last month by pop star Ayumi Hamasaki. She made surprise appearances in Shibuya to promote the release of her new book and new album, and it appears that her manager did not obtain the necessary permit for the event. Now, the case seems to be headed to the prosecutor's office. The PR event happened on April 7, at the front of the 109 building in Shibuya. Roughly 8,000 people gathered to see Hamasaki, resulting in temporarily blocked roads. Before her appearance at 109, she also paid unexpected visits to a few major record shops, going from store to store by car while some fans followed her on foot. Even though the events officially took place in stores, police determined that the scope of the event required a permit for the use of the roads. Because a permit was never obtained, authorities revealed on Thursday that they plan to send the matter to the prosecutor's office in order to further question the manager and Hamasaki herself. Singer Hiromi Go, attending his own event in Tokyo on Thursday, offered a sympathetic comment about the case. Ten years ago, he was similarly prosecuted for holding an unannounced performance in Shibuya. Last edited by Maxker; 24th May 2009 at 04:10 PM. |

Wow, she shouldn't need permission to walk where she wants. If she's famous and has lots of fans, then she is! She can't help it. This is wrong.

Well I don't think it was supposed to get THAT crazy, I don't see why she needs permission just to walk around...
From what I saw there weren't that many cars to be interrupted and it was the fans blocking the roads anyway, not Ayu standing in the middle of them just to annoy the drivers ![]() They'll probably fine Avex but it will also help sell the book too! I think Avex will get their money's worth ![]() |

I think it's rather strange - she can walk everywhere where it is allowed. Problems with traffic and the flooded crow are problems of the local authorities that didn't pay enought attention to the event.

That's just crazy. I'm sure everything will turn out fine, though.

i think that the police do have a case for saying that the event should have been cleared a head to time. you can't have citizens, no matter who they are, obstructing traffic without prior permission.
i don't, however, agree with the charges of submitting applications for personal movement. if people choose to follow her around and obstruct traffic, the onus falls onto those individuals, not the person they happen to be following.

Its sad that Ayu cant walk around like she want were she want but we also need to put ourselves on the polices shoes. I love her with all my heart but look at it this way. When she appears in event as big as the book realease was and she doesnt anoucces herself the police is not ready for the flood of fans that cover the streets. As a result fans could get hurt in an attemp to see Ayu. The police not being anouced of the event is not ready and doesnt have any security messures for the people there. For example a street overly filled by fans pushing one another to get a glimps of Ayu could end up in fans falling and getting hurt, cars passing could hurt someone (if this was anocced the police would have block the streets preventing cars to pass), without the police being ready for it a feud could come up out of nowhere among fans and so on.
On another point of view the police also needs to think: whats done its done. They cant punish Ayu for something that already happend. They should just leave her alone with a simple warning and tell her that she needs to anouce events as big as book or cds promotional events to the police. I feel sorry for Ayu. Being famous sound like a lot of trouble sometimes. ![]() |

Omg that is so silly!! She should be allowed to go wherever she wants, not ask for permission!
And why are they bringing this up now? It all went well didn't it? She should just be told for future events etc.. jeez
