I know a lot of artist's sales are dropped but I think compared to last year, the sales this year aren't that significant of a difference.

LOL, please get your facts right, Do your dreams come true? was a BEST of album featuring all of their singles from 1989 - 2009 paired with a studio album and Winter Fantasia 2008 DVD. If that's not a best of album than I don't know what is. Mr.Children is an extreme example ^^ Their albums have been selling a bit over a million since 2002 (and back than those sales weren't that GREAT). And an album released in November 2008 surely had months before the crisis actually MADE SOME DIFFERENCE when it comes to sales to sell better. As I said DREAMS COME TRUE is prolly the best example, but so are TRICK and NEXT LEVEL, TiTO and BoA's Best of paired with the US album which sold even less than her previous studio album - sure she has lost her popularity, but I've rarely seen examples of best ofs selling less than studio albums.

album wise , I hope Ken Hirai will nail it . It kinda sucks that he hasn't got a #1 album since '04's SENTIMENTALovers T_T

You do know that, it was a studio album with a limited edition version that comes with a BEST CD right?... thats different >_>! Please, if you're going to debate about something at least take the time to look up about it. DCT's sales might've dropped anyways, but it didn't drop by too much. Female solo artists sales are dropping, but other artists such as perfume, THSK, and etc. are going up too. Of course this is just my opinion but I think the sales are close to balanced because of this. Its just my opinion, I guess we'll find out at the end of the year, when they do the calculations whether it is relatively similar to last year or if it significantly drops. I also blame a lot of the fact on the release of BEST albums. For the last 2 years it seemed that mainly BEST albums were dominating the top of the charts to me, but I could be wrong

while now not so many popular artists bothered releasing a new best album (could be wrong again I don't keep track of the charts that often or remember them that well). ayu's limited releases are never limited bsides the USB >_> but I guess thats okay because she's THE "Goddess". Please, it is listed as a studio album, so it is a studio album. I don't get why we have to get so nitpicky just because they released a limited edition BEST album. Thats like saying Ayu's A Best 2 should be listed under Concert DVDs because it included her concert.

I really don't think it makes a difference that they release it a few months earlier or later. I don't think people's opinions will change due to the date they release it. I just stated that because u were talking about how they've been constant sellers, but I mean that proves that sales won't drop if the audience likes your stuff. I didn't have trouble comprehending it, I just thought it wasn't a valid point and ignored it since I already offered an explanation before that you seem to disagree to anyways.

I'll ignore the first part of your post ^^ You are aware that the real crisis only had a go at Japan in 2009? So yes the release date is majorly important. As my Japanese friend told me, many people, especially students and younger people are the ones who are losing their jobs due to the crisis. Considering the fact that they are mostly the ones who actually purchase music, I'd say their financial situation is pretty important. I think it's pretty obvious something's wrong as even Namie Amuro's sales have fallen drastically compared to 2008. Sure there are still people who manage to sell well (of course one can never diss a popularity factor), but I doubt there will be more than 2 albums that will actually pass the 1 million mark.
